No, he was activated yesterday. Definitely good to see both guys healthy and back though.

Kyle Hendricks was going for a "Maddux" today and was at 90 pitches as he got the leadoff batter in the 9th to popup....and Heyward and Zobrist proceeded to stare longingly at one another rather than try to field it. Long story short, that mistake scored and Hendricks got a mere CG rather than the SHO.

Larger point, who the heck thought that Kyle Hendricks would be the most productive guy the Cubs got from Texas in the Ryan Dempster and Matt Garza trades? Some people liked Mike Olt and many others liked C.J. Edwards, but Hendricks has been far and away the most valuable piece that came over from Texas. To get a dependable 3/4 starter who is still making basically nothing was a real coup.

Hope Profar can finally stay healthy, and get to see what he's made of.

Pretty sure they were mostly displeased with the lack of a warning.

I noticed Urias was optioned down...why the heck did the bring him up then? I always think it's stupid to do the yo-yo bit with young players...either bring them up and let them take their lumps or leave them down there.

I agree, that's never good for a kids confidence. Called up, rough outing, sent back down, basically because you sucked. Nothing good can come from that.

This is complete speculation, but perhaps they thought he was skating by too easy in the minors and wanted to give him a real taste? I've never heard anything pro/con about his work ethic, but calling him up for a spot start doesn't make any sense for any other reason. I agree with you there. They have a dozen guys in their system that could've taken a spot start and subbed for Alex Wood once.

Right...that was my thought. When he came up I read that their plan was to use him out of the 'pen and spot starts every now and then to control his innings. I just don't like the yo-yo deal...maybe there is more going on behind the scenes and they are trying to motivate him, but it isn't like he was struggling at AAA. Just a weird move, IMO. For the record, I didn't like that the Braves sent Blair down a week or so again either...he didn't have anything else to prove at AAA. Let him take his lumps up here in a losing season.

I was glad to see the Astros bounce back with a win last night over the Angels. That sweep of Baltimore immediately behind them, I didn't want to see them give it all back in Anaheim.

Hopefully they can take the rubber match and then get 3 of the 4 with Arizona to start the week (2 in AZ, 2 in Houston). I haven't given up on this year yet but I'm not very optimistic either.

How did I miss the Carson Smith thing? After the Miley trade I was pissed they let him go, but then they started talking about potential arm problems

Jake Odorizzi has faced the minimum through 6. Had a perfect game broken up by an error (challenged and upheld) but the next batter GIDP'd. Pitch count 83.
