Lindor with a game tying triple in the 9th vs. Royals. Soria was pitching....was Davis unavailable today?

Edit: just scored the winning run on a Napoli sac fly.

Royals were 27-0 when leading after 8 before tonight
      Chicago Cubs
      Michigan Wolverines

Red Sox and O's split a 4 game series. A hot Jays team coming to town for a weekend series.

Say a prayer for our pitching staff.

What happened to all that depth? lol. Just goes to show that maybe Price or Greinke would've been the better approach to mixing and matching parts all season for a team that can spend whatever it wants.

Now you've basically got a .500 team with the highest payroll in the game.
                  1. I wouldn't really call Maeda or Wood #4 starters. I would say the rotation was basically Kershaw and 4 solid pitchers with health question marks (Maeda, Wood, Kazmir, and Anderson). Kershaw is so good that he's basically as good as most other teams' #1 and #2 starters put together, so you don't need another Greinke or Price behind him, especially since...

                  2. ...the Dodgers have run some of the highest payrolls in the game's history for the past couple of years because Ned Colletti decided to acquire the core of the 2012 Red Sox and give huge, wasteful contracts to Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Brandon League. Because of that, they're subject to a 50% luxury tax on all free agent acquisitions. So remember when Greinke signed for 6/200 and Price for 7/217 this past offseason? That's basically $300 million for Greinke and $325 million for Price, if you include the 50% luxury tax. David Price's and Zack Greinke's decline years aren't worth $300+ million. Friedman's trying to get the payroll to more reasonable levels.

                  3. The Dodgers' BaseRuns record is 31-23, so they haven't actually played like a .500 team. And that's without Turner or Puig hitting and with, like, 15 guys on the DL. They're not the Cubs, but they're still in the next tier of very good teams. People think that $200+ million payrolls means that you should have superstars crawling all over the place, but that's not really how baseball works. The Angels have had the best player in the world since 2012 and they've won 0 playoffs games. The Nationals had the game's best hitter and one of its best pitchers last year and barely finished over .500. The Dodgers have had the game's best pitcher since 2013 and they've won one playoff series. You win by building deep teams, not by building stars-and-scrubs teams or buying the best old guys around. The Dodgers are trying to do the former.

Mercer also left with a HBP. A horrible series, 1-3 to the Marlins with LAA up next. Half the team will be on the DL tomorrow .

The Orioles hit more home runs in the 4th through 8th innings in tonight's game than the Braves did in the month of April.

No, I disagree. They might as well have signed Price or Greinke and just go for it. Stop beating around the bush and put that limitless payroll to use. Letting Greinke go made no sense unless they foresaw massive regression. They could do the depth approach AND sign the best pitcher, but they chose to double down on injury-prone #4's. And here we are with a 19 year old in the rotation and them looking up at San Francisco to absolutely nobody's surprise. Their hitting hasn't been good, but their pitching has been pitching above their level and both are in for a correction, imo.

The Dodgers are really no better than the Angels in the sense of letting their superstar sort of twist in the wind until everything hopefully works out someday. By the time the payroll works out, Clayton Kershaw will probably be on the wrong side of 30.

Holy crap. Mariners just came back from down 12-2 against the Padres to tie it up at 12-12 in the top of the 7th. What in the world.
