Agreed with this. However, by the time Torres is MLB ready, who knows what the Cubs roster would look like. Partly for that reason, I'm okay with him being moved. (I know I'm kind of contradicting myself, but I'd rather move a player that's farther away from MLB-ready than someone like Happ). I guess it also depends on what the "+" is. Gotta be an OFer or two

I do worry about Chapman's impact in the clubhouse, but my goodness that arm with Hector and Strop would be wonderful.

Chap has said he wants to return as a Yankee this winter. So that's somewhat surprising to hear.

Mets entering Lucroy race... Offering d'Arnaud in trade.

Thinking about the prospects that could be in return, it's like mind porn.

Wow that's a great return, if he could just stay healthy.

That would see pretty fair to me for both sides, their needs to be a heavy return for Lucroy.

                      Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread

It sounds like the Cubs and Yankees are negotiating exclusively, but it will be interesting to see if the Nats have a knee-jerk reaction after the Padres laid waste to Papelbon today and try to get back in.

Also, another angle on the proposed Chapman deal is that if the Cubs get him, then the Dodgers, Giants, Cardinals, and Nats don't. There's some hidden value there.

With Miller supposedly staying put, the market for elite closers shrinks quite a bit after Chapman gets dealt. The next tier will be the David Robertsons, the Sean Doolittles, and the Glen Perkinses of the world.

I believe Perkins is done for the year.

Well that explains why there are no rumors about him. Either way, the market shrinks substantially after the Yankees do whatever it is they are going to do.

And possibly forces a team to unload a package for Miller, Cashman is blown away with.

Yep. The buzz was that Miller is staying put, but who knows how much of that is posturing with a week left before the deadline. Also, even if the Yankees trade both Chapman and Miller, they still have Betances; he could be an elite closer in his own right.

Don't forget Ceshek, he is likely to get dealt, me thinks.
