7 back in the division and 5.5 back in the wild card with 2 months to go. Certainly in contention.

They haven't traded Tanaka and Pineda and Gregorious and Gardner and Castro and McCann and whoever ele because "they're not going to win anyway" and "they'll be old when they're good again" and "should just lose" or whatever.

And they've also visibly haven't given up on the season with their play.

Can't trade Castro, don't want to trade Didi or Tanaka, probably not Gardner either. But Beltran has probably played his last game as a Yankee. We are not in contention, even at full strength we never really were. This is the right thing though.

They have Pineda/Tanaka/Gregorious all signed for a while, so trading them wouldn't make any sense. They actually approached several teams about trading McCann (in fact, they were talking to the Braves last night about a trade sending him back to Atlanta).

We'll have to agree to disagree, but every situation is always different...

It's honestly an upgrade. Even if he's mediocre and gives us like a 4.25 ERA, it's way better than Ubaldo, Mike Wright, Tyler Wilson, and everyone else we've thrown out there in the #5 spot.

That doesn't really stop other teams from trading players away.

                But yeah, agree to disagree.

The nostalgia in me hopes Beltran gets back to Houston.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Well, no, it's not a total rebuild, but when you trade Miller and Chapman for prospects, you're punting on this year and reloading for next year.

FanGraphs gives them a <3% chance of making the playoffs, so it's not like they're a serious playoff contender or anything.

Glad the Yankess traded Miller. The future is already looking brighter. Hopefully Beltran and McCann are next to go but I doubt they will trade McCann but I kind of thought the same about Miller so who knows.

Since MIL was linked to Norris when Lucroy was thought to be dealt, they should work on a 3 team deal with The Padres and Rangers.

                        MIL: Norris + Prospects
                        TEX: Lucroy
SD: Someone, maybe even send Tyson Ross to Tex and get some prospects back? From either team.

I passed out for a while, and wake up, and the biggest trade is Wade Miley? Guess I didn't miss much.

Looks like the Mets may actually land Jay Bruce this time.
