I know records don't tell the story, but I find it incredibly hard to feel bad for Red Sox fans about John Farrell "being so terrible."

They have more than that. If Sanchez keeps it up... which it's not like he's having a Roy Halladay, 266 IP, 'wear the heck out of your shoulder' year. They've given him rests, he hasn't had a lot of overworked innings. Depending on how they setup the rotation, I doubt they let him go more than twice in a playoff series. They'd probably go to Estrada if they wanted to have someone go on shorter rest. Any way, Sanchez is definitely ace potential.

If Stroman pitches like he did last September, that's easily 1a, safe to call a 2.

When Estrada is on, he pitches like a 1b. If his back is healthy, he's easily 2-caliber, safe 3 for us.

And then Happ. I doubt he does this well next year, but he's also had 2 good seasons in a row now. Even a regression puts him as easily one of the best 4's in the league.

Liriano is obviously liking Toronto better this year than Pittsburgh. Now, hopefully getting to work with Martin more in the offseason can get him back to the numbers he had a couple years ago. Either way, he's not a bad #5 at all.

Even with some regression next year and barring anything happening in the next 2 months, it will be the first time in years the rotation is not really a major off-season concern. Even the bullpen has a good base if they choose to stick with Benoit, Grilli, and Osuna. It is just a matter of filling in those other pieces. Focus on EE and the OF this off-season because those will cost some money.

ALDS, you really only need 3 starters. They could put Sanchez as the #4, in the off chance our gm1 or 2 starter pitches bad and we make!e it to 4 or 5 games. So he could skip ALDS altogether, or be bullpen arm in gm 3,4 or 5 if we do win gm 1&2.

ALCS/WS, obviously he should be in rotation there too. Start gm 2&6.

But it is nice we are looking like we can go into off season not even worrying about SP. Just get some lefty relievers, EE locked up, another OF(Puig?), and that's it for major moves.

Yankees taking on the Orioles tonight, which means I'll have to listen to Gary Thorne trying to put me to sleep.

In better news, 7 out of the top 10 leaders in fWAR are 26 or under, and then another is Josh Donaldson (who's the best). I love seeing how many young guys are coming up and contributing, especially Lindor and Seager. Mookie would probably be my favorite player in the league if he didn't wear such an ugly uniform every game. Sloppi can be our Kobe (YUCK!).

Then there's Trout. He's just so good. And Kris Bryant is unreal as well, slugging almost .600. Bryce in a down year, slashing .249/.382/.464. (.310/.398/.536 in August, is he back?). Manny doing great as well. The pitchers have 6 under 27. Thor has a ton of personality, he's huge, he throws it 100 mph, and his nickname is Thor. I mean come on. Jose Fernandez is electric.

I hope that Manfred is going to counteract all of this bitching he's been doing about how bad the game is with a massive advertising campaign this winter along with the WBC to shine some national/international light on these guys.

Female friends who don't watch baseball are visiting Chicago this weekend and I suggested they go to the Giants/Cubs series. They decided to go today and almost got to see a no-hitter.

I wish it happened because it might have created lifelong fans out of them, but I'm kinda glad it didn't because I would be jealous as **** seeing as how it's part of every baseball fan's dream to see a no-hitter or perfect game in person.

Jays have used their "A Team"(Travis,Bautista,EE,Donaldson,Tulo,Martin,Pil lar,Saunders) a total of 6 times this year! Tonight is just the 7th! They're 4-2 in those games.

Crazier thing is that they've never played 3 straight games with that lineup. Doubtful they do it in this series, but still, 1st place in the ALE right now in September, despite having your entire starting lineup for only like 5% of the season.

I saw Mike Fiers throw his first career no-hitter in person. It was also the first no-hitter in Minute Maid Park history, and Jason Castro's first time catching a no-hitter.

It was a really cool night.

I was at the Jonathan Sanchez (Giants) no-hitter against the Padres. Ironically I think this was also going to be his last chance to show something before being DFA'd (at the time). Also, I remember going to the game thinking it was going to be a Randy Johnson start, but I had forgotten he was injured at the time and missing a couple of starts.

In the end, everything went better than expected.
