What is this even supposed to mean? No one is talking about preferential treatment for high profile players. In the context of my statement, your reply means "I don't want hitters to feel safe in the batters box and think they should be allowed to be targeted at a whim."

Well alright Dexter Fowler. Maybe this will be the start of an upswing of that .228 average you're carrying into the month of June.

James Paxton has been amazing this season, yes he has missed 4 starts, but if he remains healthy the rest of the way he has a strong shot at the Cy Young. Easily one of the 2 or 3 best LHP in the AL. In 6 starts, he has allowed a total of 5 runs, all 5 coming in the same game against the A's. A 0.00 ERA against everyone else.

Adam Wainwright with his 10th career homerun. Hit a 2 run homer in the 2nd off McCarthy.

Cards up 2-0 in the 5th.

An Associated Press reporter did a headcount of  the fans attending Wednesday’s afternoon matchup between the Phillies and Marlins in Miami.

One thousand five hundred and ninety. Yes, 1,590.

Per MLB policy, since 1993, announced attendance represents tickets sold, not the number of people in the stadium. The official recorded attendance Wednesday -- i.e., tickets sold -- was 15,197.

They're still booking revenue for 15,197 though.

Wainwright was a one man wrecking crew as Cards blank Dodgers 2-0. All offense provided by Wainwright's 2 run homer

The Blue Jays used to do that during the Paul Godfrey era where they'd count tickets sold rather than people in the seats and on that note the Jays are the first AL club to hit the one mil attendance mark.

Headcount can be deceiving since not everyone is in their seat at same time. Though number won't be too far off.

This was problem in NHL too where announced attendance is one thing, but people caught on to some teams lying. That's what internet(specifically social media) can do. You claim attendance is 18,000 but a reporter photo shows mid-game about 75% seats empty....clearly that many people didn't show up.

There's an inauguration joke somewhere in all this attendance counting talk, but I can't find it.

All teams still count the attendance as tickets sold verse actual attendance in the seats.
