I like his bat...just think his defense is below average. Fangraphs rates him with -7 DRS.
I think we're agreeing...everything beside his pitch framing is below average. His pitch framing technique, however, is world class.

I've heard from analysts of a certain vintage that Boog Powell was the greatest 3B from that perspective and every single one of them to a man says that Machado blows Powell out of the water and is the best 3B they've ever seen with his arm strength and accuracy. The guy is a generational talent at the hot corner.

As for the Jays tonight, nice to see a seemingly healthy Liriano pitch a tidy 5 innings tonight. He ups his stock a bit in the trade talks for sure. I also saw an interesting stat during the game showing just how opposite the two 1B with breakout seasons are faring since the All Star Break. I didn't realize Yonder Alonso has been faring so badly since the break.

Assuming they win this game, the Diamondbacks got their lead-off man to reach every offensive inning today as Descalso just singled in the bottom of the eighth. I don't recall if all of them were hits.

I am pretty sure you meant Brooks Robinson, not Boog Powell. Boog was the 1B for those O's team and has the range of a fire hydrant.

You're right, Beltre's is stronger. I have watched them both as well.

I went and watched about 20 minutes of defensive highlights for both...Beltre has a great arm, but I still think Machado has more velocity. What I will give Beltre is accuracy...the entire highlight video I don't think he threw one "offline" throw. Machado can fire it over there, but his 1B saves him a lot.

I'm not downplaying Beltre...guy is a HOF and one of the greatest 3B of all time, but I am just amazed at Machado's arm strength.

                    Machado vs. Andrelton.....

I'll take Andrelton's arm. I don't think there's a better one I've seen on the field in my life.

                      I would agree to that...

I think they are talking about third basemen, though. There are a handful of shortstops I could name with better arms than Machado.

Remember Furcal's arm as well? Crazy.

I know...just comparing arm to arm.

I think Andrelton is better than Furcal.

Shawon Dunston needs to be included if we're not limiting it to 3B.

We all know that Henry Rowengartner had the best arm of all time. That's not really debatable. These other guys are jockeying for 2nd place.
