Half this pitching staff needs to be DFA'd. Wilson is trash.

That Baez play is going to be all over Sportscenter. Not that I watch it anymore.

Lucas Sims in line for his first career win...it's Coors though, so hopefully Atlanta can hold a 7 run lead with 6 outs to go.

Bizarre game with a disappointing end. Splitting against the Reds ain't gonna cut it.

Judge keeps his streak going, Matz continues to look terrible. Judge is going to become Joey Gallo if he's not careful, he's rapidly degenerating into a homer/strikeout/walk guy taking some really bad swings

That was the book on him when he was first called up last year. I think it might be a little early to tell if it's going to become the reality. I say, let's see how does in 2018 before he becomes another Joey Gallo type.

Since June 7th the Dodgers are 50-9.

With their walk off last night they've had 9 different players hit a walk off hit/HR this season.

Michael Kay "How long do you go with Mitchell here?"

Me, at home: "We're up 6 runs. The bases are loaded and there's no outs. Even if he gives up a grand slam we're still up 2 runs. We can worry then."

Boom. Now we worry. Lock it down Dellin.

It's really been longer since he when he got called up. That's always been the book on him. Yea he can hit 35 bombs per year, but he'll give 150+Ks, a .250ish, .260 at best, and won't draw a lot of walks either. He never really had good plate discipline in the minors, and never made go on base consistently. It's why I always said his ceiling was an Adam Dunn type player.

People probably ignored that comparison because even if it were accurate, it makes no sense. Adam Dunn drew over 100 walks many times and never had trouble getting on base consistently.

Anyway, Judge had more WAR in the first half than Dunn did in his best season. I'd say we're past Dunn as a ceiling. Even now, he's still drawing walks. That's not his issue. He's 3rd in BB% and 2nd in BBs in the second half. He's dealing with pitchers pitching him in ways to stretch his already huge strike zone and he hasn't adjusted yet. He's getting less good pitches to hit and having trouble laying off bad ones.

Never realized Jays haven't been to Wrigley in ages. Lets just say last time they were, the Bartman stuff was still fairly fresh in peoples minds. Now they return to Wrigley to face WS Champ Cubs. It's only 2nd time ever they've been there. Even more reason for me to watch this series, even if Jays are struggling. Who knows when next visit there might happen.

If there is something that Judge has done, even during his struggling stretch, has been walking at a high rate:

Actually they've been playing a lot better over the last ten games or so. Not so coincidentally this is happening just as Josh Donaldson has returned with a vengeance. It'll be interesting to see how the Jays play against the Cubbies. Unfortunately over this 3 game series the Jays have had very little history against the Cubs starters. You know as well as I do the Jays M.O. is "we can't hit for crap against guys we hardly know". The one guy they have a lot of history with is Jon Lackey who I believe will start one of these games.

No reason to think someone won't get hot to end year, but right now, 83 wins is the projected total for 2nd WC. So Jays would need to go at least 25-16 to even have a shot. Realistically, 85-87 wins seems like mark for 2nd WC. So at least .600 baseball to have shot at WC, and at least .650 baseball to likely get the WC. Would be nice if they actually did get the WC so the season won't be a complete waste. Unlike in other sports where you at least have a consolation prize in the form of a better draft pick where the higher pick actually gives you better chance at better player.
