Re: 8/28 - 9/10 Game Discussion Thread
Edit: Alfonso Soriano is another one too, how could I forget about him?
Edit2: I started watching career highlights of Soriano, I was too young to remember much from his first go around with the Yankees but he started with a slightly open stance. It looks like once he went to Texas he became closed in his stance. At least from what I can tell from just the highlight video.
But it's fairly similar to Stantons stance progression. Open to closed over time.Last edited by duke776; 08-29-2017, 02:15 PM.Comment

Great first impression by Brett Anderson in a Jays uniform tonight. His last inning didn't exactly end the way he'd like it but still, that was 6 quality innings there. Obviously this is a showcase of his talents for 2018 whether with the Blue Jays or another club. His performance will definitely be evaluated with an eye to possibly retaining him next season.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 8/28 - 9/10 Game Discussion Thread
I read that Giancarlo is crediting Barry Bonds for his monster season.
“Barry’s been huge for me,” Stanton said. “We talk all the time. He’s guided me along this year.”
Stanton in particular "tuned out" BB who was openly critical of Stanton. For everyone to hear at times.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

What's interesting to me about this is that it was reported at the end of the season last year that Barry Bonds was being tuned out by players, specifically Stanton. Per Craig Mesh's twitter @ 10/3/16:
This seems contradictory. Stanton doesn't want to hear what Barry has to say last year and now he's talking to him every day? ....what?"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: 8/28 - 9/10 Game Discussion Thread
Yeah, I don't think Stanton would be singing Bonds' praises if there was that much trouble last year as it pertains to the players. Although if there is some truth to that narrative than it's possibly a situation where Bonds does better from afar than being with the club 24/7.

Like this deal.
Not that the return is huge but the ability to get his contract off the books considering the young arms we have is great.
