If he opts out after that I'm sure they won't be upset. If he stays they are only on the hook for 3 years in his mid-30's at 13 per. Not bad. I'd say SD won this deal not Boras.
I just don't have a high opinion of Hosmer as a player. I hope it works out for them, and they don't use the potential failure as a reason to not sign anyone going forward. It's mostly because of who he signed to.

When he says 5 at 21 per, he's adding in the $5M signing bonus.

I'm a bit surprised the Rays needed to DFA Dickerson in the hopes of finding a deal. You'd have to think some AL teams would have interest in a relatively cheap OF/DH type...ahem, Boston. Baltimore was collecting this type of player a couple years ago (Mark Trumbo, Pedro Alvarez, Seth Smith). Dickerson would be a nice fit on the Angels also; they've been too right-handed for a few years now.

              Royals sign Alex Liddi

              Rockies sign Sean Nolin

Man...that "unsigned FA" Spring Camp has to be getting smaller and smaller. Pretty soon it's just going to be JD standing there looking for someone to throw too:

The Boras free agents were never attending that camp.

According to Jon Morosi trade interested has picked up on the Padres Hunter Renfroe. Atlanta is one of the teams interested. They are casting a wide net for outfielders right now.

Good, he'll get killed against the Yanks

There was a brief rumor that the Jays were interested in him and I had some vivid nightmares about that scenario!
