In a way, this kind of sparks the NYY/Red Sox rivalry. We loaded up by getting Stanton and Boston fires back by getting the "King Kong of Slug." Should be fun.

The rivalry was on it's way back before these additions because of all the pieces already in place.

          Betts/Benny/Bradley/Bogaerts/Devers
          Sanchez/Judge/Bird/Didi

Now it just got kicked up.

The Yankees/Red Sox rivalry of now has no teeth, nothing compared to the past. Cant even call it a rivalry.

Speak for yourself. I don't care if we spend the entire last month going back and forth for 1st place or if they finish 2nd and 5th, I hate those *******s with every inch of my being.

5/110 is what is being reported for JD.

Jake Arrieta is the last man standing huh? A couple of seasons ago you never would have guessed that. Curious where he ends up. Got a feeling it might be some out of nowhere team no one expected.

Sounds like Alex Cobb will come off the board first.

Did Lance Lynn sign yet? So, him, Arrieta, and Cobb still out there?

The feeling is mutual in regards to Boston but the fans are way more passionate about it than the players on the field. It's weak.

I don't think there's very many ways to quantify that.

Speaking for myself, I haven't noticed that. It always feels like a special game when it's NYY/Bos.

Yeah, I don’t hate the Yankees like I used too (even called them likeable last postseason). I think most Sox fans feel the same way. Hold more animosity towards the Rays and Orioles nowadays.

Obviously the two teams winning and competing for the AL East at the same time for many years will change that. But until that happens the rivalry is pretty much mostly irrelevant.

I don't think he's saying it's not special, but compare the rivalry to the early 2000's when Pedro, Clemens, ARod, Varitek, Jeter, Garciaparra, etc, were going at it...I mean, I highly doubt you see Chris Sale throw a Yankee coach to the ground any time soon.

For me, Yankees/Red Sox is must watch anytime...but it was really special from about 1999-2007.
