I'm fine with anything 3 years or less. Over 3 years no thanks.

Side note about Arrieta. He worked out a lot this offseason with Phillies outfielder Nick Williams. Williams mentioned to him about playing here and Arrieta said he does enjoy playing in Philly. See what happens. I would love him on 2-3 year deal.

I hope the Phillies get him.

I would totally throw an offer out like 3 years @ $66 million. Opt out after the first year, and a vesting option for a 4th year to make it $90 million.

Josh Donaldson expects to become FA at season's end, doesn't see eye to eye with Jays.

In order to open up a roster spot for JD, today the Sox traded OF Bryce Brentz to Pittsburgh for a crisp $20.

And to make room for Hosmer, San Diego DFA'ed catcher Rocky Gale.

You're making it sound more definitive than it really is. He has said that they're not in the same ballpark right now and expects his agent and the Jays to have conversations about an extension BUT that he's not really looking to have that as a distraction. He has said MANY times on the record that he wants to stay with the Jays for years to come but that he will test free agency. I don't think that's an unreasonable position for him.

A lot can happen between now and the trading deadline. If the Jays aren't looking so good Donaldson will be traded for sure but it seems to me that both the team and the player want to make it work out long term.

Beauty of Yankees/Red Sox (or Giants/Dodgers or Cubs/Cardinals) is that it doesn't matter what the quality of the teams are. When they play, you pay attention. When they play, it feels more important. That's the mark of a true rivalry.

When I see those games on the schedule, my reaction is always "oh ****, ____ v. ____ this weekend?!"

Padres chairman Ron Fowler pretty much threw Wil Myers under the bus today.

Eh, I don't think it's that bad. Some guys know they're not the leader-y type. Seems like Wil Myers knows what he is and what Hosmer can bring to the table that he might not be so strong with.

No surprise from Bill Baer, though.

Always nice to see where you stand with ownership. Great motivational words to start the season.

Rats have acquired the Yankees #8 prospect...wonder if Dickerson is on his way to New York for some weird reason.

                          Potential rumor out there:

Source: Dbacks have acquired Steven Souza from Rays in three-team deal. Brandon Drury is headed to the Yankees.

                          Looks legit.

I really like Souza at Chase Field. Could say that about any hitter, but I think he profiles well out west.

Looks like a solid deal all-around.

Think the Yankees win it on early speculation of the deal. Drury is a super utility player that could open the season at 2B or 3B depending on where they want Gleyber.
