I really think it depends on a few things.

Does he go to a contender? If so is he going to play 1B or back to 3B or SS?

Maybe the Jays can pick him up and have him play SS though I doubt he'd want to play here. LOL

Jerry Dipoto being Jerry Dipoto. Trades for Colome and Denard Span for a couple of pitching prospects I don't know much about, Andrew Moore and Tommy Romero. Rays sending some cash to cover some of the (large) Span contract

Mark Topkin is reporting the Rays are going to have more guys on the move. Sounds like Chris Archer may finally be traded along with guys such as Wilson Ramos, C.J. Cron, Carlos Gomez Adieny Hechavarria, Brad Miller, Sergio Romo, Matt Duffy, Chaz Roe, Nathan Eovaldi (if he shows anything when he returns), and Jonny Venters.

Phil Hughes dealt to San Diego for minor league catcher Janigson Villalobos.

Sheesh, it seems like 3 of the 5 AL East teams will be doing a fire sale in some form this year.

Sounds like the Giants maybe moving on from Hunter Pence.

Same old story. Yankees, red sox at top, jays hover around. 500, rays and O's at bottom. Didn't we do this last decade?

Just hope jays get a chance at full rebuild. Being owned by a major corporation that doesn't care about team success, and wants immediate results, not ones that take steps back, jays might be forced to do things that ruins long term plans. Would be nice if someone wants to buy the team. Mlb prefers individual owners over corporations. I believe jays are one of few like that still.

I'm willing to stick it out another 3 years or so. The Jays aren't quite in that "we got to blow everything up" mode but it really depends on the drafting and free agency. Remember, over the next couple years there's a LOT of money coming off the books so the Jays can make some shrewd free agent moves and trades with all that money to play with. Shapiro has a fairly good track record with his drafting history so I want to see how that plays out and that will take some time.

San Diego also picks up a draft pick. Twins paying all of Hughes salary this year, and roughly half next season. Padres buying a draft pick, gotta love it.

                                How'd they get a pick?
