They should take it, IMO. They won't get better than that.

Manny would fit in well with that Brewers clubhouse full of camera muggers

Anywho, Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun has reported that the Cubs have interest in J.A. Happ. Unfortunately, I don't think this is a great fit as the Jays are looking for prospects and the Cubs' farm system is pretty dire at the moment.

Wherever he goes, Jays better get some good prospects out of the deal.

On Yankees, getting someone like Justus Sheffield and/or Chance Adams would be a nice return. Sheffield was drafted by Cleveland in Shapiros final year with them.

Speaking of trades, someone take Morales! He's been hot the past month. If Jays can find someone to take him on without Jays having to take back a big league contract beyond this year, then do it.

Press the accept button, Duquette. I hear they want Dustin May.

What kind of prospects do you think you're getting for a 35-year-old rental pitcher with a 4.44 ERA? I think any team in baseball has enough in their farm system to afford J.A. Happ. The Cubs lack the top end guys, but there is still plenty in there to do business.

One top end prospect is the best possible outcome but someone who's a mid-level prospect would work for me.

According to reports the Orioles turned down the Dodgers offer of Alex Verdugo and Yadier Alvarez. Says they want more.

EDIT: Just found out Jim Bowden was the source so it's probably incorrect.

He might have a high ERA this year, but the past 2 years he's had an ERA of 3.33. He actually has a lower WHIP this year than the past 2 year average, but HR number is what has gone up. And despite him having a high ERA right now, it'd still be the 3rd best on the Yankees staff. Going for a WS led by CC and Happ, both being 35+ year old starters, both would obviously want to win a championship. Happs 1st, CCs 2nd, but also wanting to prove they deserve another contract in the big leagues.

And lets not forget Happ pitches at the hitters friendly Rogers Centre. He has a 2.83ERA and 1.113WHIP away from there this year (top 10 in the AL among road starters. Cleveland and Houston are the only 2 teams with multiple starters in the top 10 of road ERA. Yankees would be the 3rd. Given that you're gonna be facing one or both of those teams in the playoffs, you better have guys who can get you that extra important road victory)

Rogers Centre is a hitter's park? News to me. I always thought it was a pretty neutral park, hitterish when the Jays are good and pitcherish when they're not. Almost exactly neutral this season:

The most important rebuttal to your argument? 35-year-old rental. You're not getting a stud prospect for a guy like that. I could see a top 100-200 guy and a lotto ticket. Maybe a bit better if it turns out to be a seller's market.

Rogers Centre is 3rd among AL Ballparks in home runs.

Yeah, but a pitcher's line isn't due to only home runs. Overall, on a runs scored basis, it's a neutral park.

I think the issue is that the Rogers Centre can punish flyball pitchers. It's a miracle that Estrada pitches so well in there sometimes.

I think my realistic idea of a mid-level prospect is about all that they can hope for but i'm still clinging (and many Jays fans are actually) for one super prospect. We'll see how it goes.

Seems like Moose to the Yankees might be gaining a little steam. Moustakas started both games at 1B this weekend with a Yankees scout in attendance.

Jon Morosi is now reporting the Orioles are asking for Keibert Ruiz, Dustin May, and Walker Buehler. Only way any of those guys are included is if Manny is willing to sign an extension.

I've seen Buehler pitch a couple times this season. if the O's can get him in any kind of deal that's perfect for them. The kid has a LOT of upside.
