Yeah, don’t see that working out well or being worth it truthfully. He hates Boston.

Was reading today that Giancarlo Stanton choosing the Yankees comes with a price. He's taking a $29 million tax hit going to NY.

Yep, from no state income tax to one of the most heavily taxed places in the country. Some people might not be aware, but NYC has its own tax for living there. On top of the federal and state taxes.

People also forget that athletes get taxed in every state they play games in as well (where state taxes apply)

Do visiting players that come to Toronto have to pay taxes too? I wouldn't think so given that it's a whole other country but you never know with these things.

I'm not sure how taxes work in Canada.

I took a sports Economics class in college and there is some sort of tax for opposing players going to Canada, NY, CA, etc. I forget exactly how it works but there is a tax.

Thanks, I always assumed opposing players would be exempt when going to Canada.

                          I mean, it's still 29 million dollars.

Stanton can help make up that difference in endorsements.

As for getting taxed in NY, we get get the triple crown in taxes. City tax, state tax, and federal tax. It’s not ideal.

There' also insurance claims as well. Example if a visiting player gets injured at a game in CA he can file for workman's comp. Even if he isn't a CA resident.

And he’s making 25 million dollars this year,26 million the next two years and it goes up after that.

I don’t think the 29 million is going to hurt that much

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
