Giants the first team to meet with Ohtani.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Surely Ohtani would rather go to a NL team if he wants to pitch AND hit.

For one game per week. In the AL he can hit 4 games and pitch one.

MLB Network was saying that in the NL he can pinch hit on his off days.
They figured he can get approximately 250 AB's a season.

But I agree with you, he could get a lot more swings in the AL and IMO I don't think he wants to be a pinch hitter on his off days.

Ohtani as a hitter is still something he has to prove. Not sold on him as a batter against MLB pitching.

I'm really intrigued to see how he does. I hope he's a success wherever he signs

I've seen his build and swing being compared to Bellinger but then again, that's coming from Tom Verducci so gotta throw a whole bottle of salt on that one.

The thought is he'll play RF in the NL on days he isn't pitching.

Pretty taxing on the arm, especially going into the next start. I know pitchers do things on their off-days (long toss, bullpen), but you unleash on a whole different level trying to gun somebody out from RF to 3B. That's a recipe for disastrous arm problems, and something that a team would not want to gamble with too long.

I suppose he could pitch, bench (PH), RF, RF, bench (PH), pitch. Maybe get a relief appearance or two, no idea. Probably couldn't play RF every day though.

Sounds like he wants to be a starter.
All I know is, this guy better be good for all the demands he has, lol.

But as one MLB analyst said, at least it's not about the money. If it was, he would have waited 2 years to really cash in.

I'm excited to see what this kid can do.

Both Dan O'Down and Al Leiter last night were saying there is no way he can be a two way player. The amount of arm care/work that pitchers do in between starts/on off days is really extensive and if he's starting every day in RF/DH when he's not pitching it will take away from that. Furthermore, they pointed out that Japanese pitchers have struggled with the adjustment coming from Japan because they pitch more often here. It will be interesting to see what happens and if he can prove them wrong.

I honestly think it depends on how he is used as a pitcher. If he is a starter or reliever. The whole reason he's having these meetings with 7 teams is they have agreed to allow him to pitch, hit, and play the field. We'll see how it goes. Maybe teams give him a year or two to be a two way player and see where he excels and down the road he either becomes a position player full time or a pitcher full time.

Miami has shown interest in Michael Wacha, Jose Martinez in a trade with St.Louis in a deal for Stanton. Pitching prospect likely involed in deal as well. Probably Alcantara
