I don't see how playing CF would be that huge of an adjustment for Gordon. Good move on the M's part there. It's interesting how they're accruing international money. They must still be strong in their belief that they can obtain Ohtani.

I don't think this means that Seattle is out of the Ohtani sweepstakes. He plays RF from what I'm recall.

With them getting additional bonus pool money leads me to believe that they are gathering resources to throw as much money at him as possible to sway him to sign there.

I would argue the opposite; Seattle getting Dee Gordon helps their case for getting Ohtani.

Chatwood is a solid pitcher with great stuff, and is only 28. The red flags are health and too many free passes.

My concern about the Chatwood signing is all of his walks. He posted a 4.7 BB/9 last season and 4.2 BB/9 in 2016. His walk numbers weren't any better on the road either. I know that's not everything, but It's slightly worrisome.

The bigger issue is that the Cubs, especially the bullpen, have really struggled with BBs. That's the main reason the pitching was less effective last year than the year before. I worry a little bit that the Cubs' front office is not properly valuing the ability to throw strikes.

I didn't realize his rate was so high. That is concerning considering the pitching staff's trend last season.
