Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
Apparently, Stanton vetoed a deal to St. Louis:
Giancarlo Stanton has vetoed trades that the Miami Marlins worked out with San Francisco and St. Louis, declining to waive his no-trade clause.
That's sort of splitting hairs though. Anaheim is not very far away from LA proper at all. What, 15-20 miles or so separate them?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
Would love to see the Cubs pull Stanton this offseason. It would probably have to be a 3-team deal with Schwarber going to an AL team and someone would have to absorb Jason Heyward (or a part of his deal) at some point. I think the odds are pretty low, and the Cubs probably couldn't pull it off with only their farm system, but a 2-3-4 of Bryant-Rizzo-Stanton is worth exploring. While taking advantage of an inexperienced Miami front office in the process.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Unless another surprising twist like the Giants and Cardinals both being out of it happens I’m guessing he goes to the Yankees or Dodgers. Of the teams on his list I think the Yankees and Dodgers are most likely. Can’t see the Astros doing it. Cubs are a possibility.Comment

I really hope the Yankees don't get involved, I don't think they really need him first of all. Plus the Yanks have just about untangled themselves from these long type contracts.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

I think the Yanks are better off not bothering with Stanton. They have a complete novice at manager and adding a player like Stanton with that kind of contract and tons of expectations would just make things extremely difficult all around ESPECIALLY if he struggles at any point in the season.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
It's sounding more and more like the Marlins may just have to nix a Stanton trade for now and try again next July. I imagine they could get more for him at that point and he might be tired of playing with a bunch of AAA players for 3 months. Heck, if the Yankees have an injury and they are in the thick of the playoff race, they might be willing to shell out the prospects then that they won't let go now."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Dodgers likely would want Miami to take Kazmir, Mccarthy and/or A-Gon. Yanks would want Miami to take headley, ellsbury and/or Gardner in potential deals.- Jon HeymanComment
