Must not know what a winning streak is.

I'm curious what y'awls thoughts are.

Cubs traded a potentially dymo prospect in Torres for half-year of Chapman, whom helped them get to and win the WS (let's disregard Maddon's misuse of him). Yanks got Chapman back AND such acquired an uber talent too but the Cubs won a WS for the first time in 100+ years.

For the sake of argument, let's say that Torres is as good as advertised and has 3-4 ASGs, plays at a 5+ fWAR and becomes a star...is it still justified for the Cubs to have traded him to win that WS? 6 years of an all-star player for 1 WS (he won't hit FA until 2024).

It reminds me of Doyle Alexander and John Smoltz. Doyle was exactly what the Tigers needed at the time of the trade but Smoltz helped push Atlanta to the next level.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I don't think your Alexander for Smoltz comparison holds up...the Tigers were upset in the LCS by the Twins, so had nothing to show for it. The Cubs got their ring.

Because they won the World Series, most people, at least in this town, won't really mind if the Torres trade does turn out the way you describe down the line.

Yeah, Cubs winning the WS trumps pretty much everything else in organized sports, from my perspective at least. Gleyber can go on to be a HoF'er and I still wouldn't mind that deal.

I'm not one who thinks championships are the *only* thing that matters. We watch to be entertained and if a player like Torres is contributing multiple years of contention with a chance to win a couple when all is said and done, that's best.

But, it's the Cubs. And the situation they were in. They had to and it worked. It's totally fine in their case.

Loving this Andujar kid for the Yankees. While Stanton and Sanchez continue to struggle. He's ripping the ball all over the field. The kid definitely has staying power in this league.

Kris Bryant gets hit in the front of the helmet by German Marquez in the 1st inning. Didn't look intentional to me...although Bryant did break up that dude's no-hitter last year. Bryant just looks dazed, but not hurt. Obviously his day will end early.

Almora makes a beautiful catch on an Arenado fly ball, but he looks shaken up.

They need to scrap video reviews. It's awful.

I just now learned it's not just that MLB umpires are bad, they are actually blind and incapable of doing the job.

Its inexcusable. And embarrassing. It took 5 seconds to see Austin was safe. Takes the crew a couple minutes to make the call and they still **** it up? How?

This is embarrassing mlb. Fix it.
