Well, that's an unfortunate start. Albies not wasting any time.

Edit: Oh boy. Quintana has nothing today. And somehow escapes the first with just the solo shot after walking the bases loaded.

      Bases-loaded, 1-out...2 Ks.

      C'mon, now.

Quintana should be counting himself blessed giving up only 1 run that inning.

Interesting strike zone in the Braves-Cubs game. Batters should just go up expecting to swing as it doesn't seem like consistency is on the menu today.

-Cubs looking like the Bad News Bears on defense. Atlanta better capitalize.

edit 2 - 2 innings in the books and Atlanta has already left 5 men on base. That's the kind of stat that will come back and bite you.

Quintana doing a Houdini impression so far today.

And Almora makes a 2 out walk to Schwarber hurt with a long ball. 2-1 Cubs after 2.

Flowers leapfrogs the Braves over the Cubs again with a 2 run shot of his own. Wild game brewing.

Yeah, 6 MPH out to left. Not a huge effect, but it's helping the ball carry some.

A constant theme...I absolutely loathe replay. If Matt Olson of the A's was out the other day at the plate (and they reversed the call in that case), then Rizzo was out there. At least they picked him off right after that, but the challenge is gone.

Braves have to do the job for New York and make the out. Replay is a joke or the MLB has conspired against the Braves with the system.

I would love for replay to be removed from the game. Make the call, right or wrong, and let's move on and play.

6 hits in the game thus far. 4 of those hits have been homeruns.

                          Right...that was awful.

On another note, the Cubs broadcast showed a graphic demonstrating how Quintana and Teheran have been essentially the same pitcher for their careers. I find that interesting because Teheran is considered a "disappointment" by most people while Quintana is considered a really solid MLB pitcher. Maybe it has to do with expectations coming up (I remember some scouts calling Teheran the next Pedro Martinez), but that is interesting to me.

Acuna really needs to adjust. Nice double to right field yesterday, but 12 strike outs in his last 37 at-bats is B.J. Upton level.

Not the time to worry, just frustrating to watch.

The kid is 20...he's going to have growing pains. I had said before the season started that if he came up and played the season at this level, a .250/20/60 with 150 K's type of season was realistic. A lot of his strikeouts are coming looking, which is him just having to adjust to the strike zone. You aren't seeing him swing and miss at a ton of 3rd strikes.

Yeah the expectations probably have a lot to do with that. I remember those Pedro comparisons. I also think recent history hurts Julio. Going into the 2017 season I don't think anyone would call Julio a disappointment. Then 2017 happened though and the narrative changed.

Not too familiar with Quintana coming up, but I think Julio is also hurt by the trend of some of his metrics. He sat in the low-mid 90's his first few years. The last 2 seasons hitting 90 or 91 is him reaching back for extra gas.
