Albies just rakes vs LHP...almost wish he'd just hit RH the way he hits."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

He could hit 0HRs one week, and the following week hit 3-4. Then go another week without a HR, and get 2-3 the following week.Comment

Re: 5/7 - 5/20 Game Discussion Thread
The kid is 20...he's going to have growing pains. I had said before the season started that if he came up and played the season at this level, a .250/20/60 with 150 K's type of season was realistic. A lot of his strikeouts are coming looking, which is him just having to adjust to the strike zone. You aren't seeing him swing and miss at a ton of 3rd strikes.
I think your .250/20/60 season would be a major disappointment though and only realistic if we accept that he was called up too soon/not the player we hope he is. Sure, most 20 year olds aren't Mike Trout and hit .330 . Most 19 year old's also don't go out and crush AAA pitching like he did though. A realistic expecation imo would be something like Heyward. .270-.280, ~20 HR, and a high OBP. Less than that is a disappointment, and more than that is just bonus.Comment

Yeah he's 20, like I said not remotely time to worry...

As for the Heyward comparison, I would be fine if he has a rookie year that doesn't measure up to Heyward's if he actually progresses from that point. Heyward had a historic rookie year and has really had a disappointing career to this point."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Have we left enough men on base today? Good grief...1-14 with RISP."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: 5/7 - 5/20 Game Discussion Thread
Maybe...but he struck out a LOT in the minors (at roughly twice the rate Trout did in the minors), so I expect him to K a lot in the bigs. Also, let's not forget that Mike Trout posted a 220/281/390 triple slash with 30 K's/9 BB in his first 40 games. It takes a while to adjust to major league pitching...

Heyward had a very good (not close to an all-time great) rookie season, and I think it's fair to expect something like that again from another #1 prospect. Basically a stat line that looks impressive in the context of their age/experience, and alone without context still a solid MLB player.

11 LOB through 6 innings. Amazing that Atlanta has still managed 6 runs in this one despite that.Comment

I mean yeah I'd definitely rather a bad year this year and then him continue to develop instead of J-Hey who peaked at 20. I don't see those as mutually exclusive options though.

Man...I really wish we had a "lockdown" bullpen. I'd feel a lot better about games when it got to the 7th. Instead I find myself thinking "which bullpen will show up today?""People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I get it...asking Bautista to do something he hasn't done in 10 years at the end of his career doesn't set him up for success, but off the bat I thought that was a DP ball. Bautista has the range of a fire hydrant."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment
