Been pretty damn impressed with Gleyber Torres patience at the plate. He just doesn't look like a rookie. So comfortable up there.

Yanks chase Kimbrel in the eighth. Great AB from Gardy with the triple. Then Judge goes Executioner.

Tenth comeback win this year. It is indeed. Long, Long season of course. But this team definitely has that" it" factor.

The Yankees are ridiculous right now...17 of 18? Hopefully they are just peaking too early...

Would think Russell or Baez would be the main piece. Then some combo of Happ/Almora and a pitcher. Don't think the Cubs will part with Schwarber.
Dipping a little into the hot stove here, but...

Pretty much saw the Cubs-Manny Machado link from several miles away. It makes too much sense. I have to imagine the negotiations--if they talk trade--would be rather brutal with the O's needing to save face and the Cubs knowing he's an impending free agent.

First off, Baez and Schwarber aren't going anywhere. Least of all for a rental.

Second, I don't think the O's get Addy + Happ/Almora + pitcher. I think they probably get either Addy or Happ and then a couple of lottery tickets. For what it's worth, Happ homered twice the other day and Addy got his first dinger today. Baltimore would be ecstatic to have either, probably.

In some ways it's a bad match because the O's could really use pitching and the Cubs' farm system is pretty barren in that regard. Aside from Alzolay. Mike Montgomery would make sense for the O's if the Cubs didn't need his versatility so badly. Duane Underwood Jr. is another name to watch.

The Chicago Sports radio guys were talking about this potential trade this week and they all agreed it won't happen. The O's would need to get Happ, Russell, and Schwarber back and the Cubs aren't giving that up. They actually all agreed that the Braves were the best option for the O's to trade if they want prospects, but I don't see Atlanta doing that either. No one is going to want to give up much in a trade for a guy they get for 4 months.

And this is just another reason why Baltimore's entire front office should be expunged, top to bottom. What good did standing pat with Manny Machado end up doing for them? It's not like they were actually competing for anything beyond 4th place in the division. How badly did it end up hurting their negotiating position? It's hard to fathom how badly they've misplayed the situation. Almost as hard to fathom as how they never seem to want any decent starting pitching, thinking they can MacGyver it with a good bullpen and Buck Showalter over and over again.

I saw this stat after yesterday's game.

Red Sox started 17-2 and then went 8-8.
The Yanks started 8-8 and then went 17-2.

Did Steven Souza Jr. never learn how to properly slide? It's almost like he's begging the Dodgers to drill him.

Carlos Santana had a good month in that 4 game series with the Giants w/13 RBI. That's what you call getting hot!

                            He certainly was due.
