Better for it to happen now than do what the 2003 Royals or other "not quite ready for prime time" teams have done in the past.

It actually wasn't all that bad....right outside the outer black. Rhys has been either easily fooled during this stretch or gun shy. Certainly not a great spot for him. He's hard to read for me personality wise as well. You certainly want a certain level of arrogance as any athlete, but there seems this smug side. Maybe he's getting the cold slap in the face he needs right about now.

Not able to watch, but following on my phone. Saw Newcomb lifted after 3 IP...he didn't have an injury did he? I am assuming due to ineffectiveness/pitch count, but wanted to make sure he didn't get hurt.

I've watched the entire game and they've said nothing about an injury to Newcomb.

I think it was just ineffectiveness. I was watching and I don't recall them saying anything about an injury.

Thanks...I saw he had reverted to "old" Newk with 4 walks and 88 pitches through 3, so I assumed that was why he was lifted, but wanted to make sure.
