Jays looked horrid in that series. Thankfully, they have nothing to play for and I want the A's to make the playoffs.

Well it sounds like a good time to sweep the M's!

Pirates' hurlers Kingham and Brault have combined for 101 pitches in recording 8 outs.

The HP ump is leaving after getting drilled in the mask by a foul tip. Hopefully the strike zone doesn't change too much on Hamels. It has been favorable.

I've always enjoyed watching Hamels pitch. I love me a good changeup.

Reminiscent of Tom Glavine but with better stuff.

I'm a fan of Hamels hitting infield singles also.

Unhooked the trailer on that. He could smell his first Cubs hit.

I never thought I'd see this kind of season from Javy. I'm sure this is probably his peak, but holy hell what an offensive machine he's been this year. Got his 20th bag, he's got a good a shot at a 30/30 season

EDIT: They changed it to a WP, so back to 19 SBs

Hamels has been pretty fantastic so far. Even with Addison Russell and Willson Contreras doing him no favors on defense. He'll have to face a 3rd "extra batter" now after Contreras wildly throws into RF.

Back to Hamels though...he's had them behind on the fastball (91-93, and up to 95 MPH) and ahead of the changeup (83-85 MPH). Great command also. It's almost hard to imagine how he'd been so bad for Texas.

Unfortunately, the theme of pitchers throwing an inordinate amount of pitches early in the game has remained. Nearly 100 through 5. I don't know if they send him back out.

if not for Russell's error in the 1st Hamels easily goes 6. This is much much much much preferable over a Chatwood start.

Yeah, he wasn't tremendously economical, but he basically had to pitch 6 innings to get 5 innings worth of outs due to the shabby defense. Also, him notching 9 Ks has a way of jacking up the pitch count. Hamels is getting pinch hit for now.

God, yes. I agree that the error on the very first batter of the game was problematic and Hamels handled it like a pro.

One of my favorite things is Rizzo's reaction after receiving a throw from Contreras.

Dodgers finally showing a pulse against Milwaukee. Seemed like the West Coast was just gonna roll over for the Brew Crew on this road trip.

LOL so Grandal homers to lead off the fifth, between batters someone in the crowd yells: "Let's go Dozier, back-to-back baby!" Next pitch, boom. Solo shot over the center field wall.

Looks like people found an old tweet from Sonny Gray. And yes, while one was controversial, this one was more ironic/funny:
