I couldn't believe Mattingly sat there and watched that meltdown...Barraclough had no idea where the ball was going and was limited to throwing get it over breaking balls. Like you just said...one game matters. When the season comes down and we finish a game back, I'll remember the game we blew against the Cubs in April and I'll remember this game the Marlins gave away.

It's made the Cubs look awfully thin in the LOOGY department for sure. That's one area that needs to be addressed with Duensing not deserving to make a playoff roster and Monty in the rotation for good (?). All we have back there is ol' Mr. Reliable, Justin Wilson.

If it weren't for Chatwood, Cubs nation would probably complain about Wilson's inability to throw strikes.

Randy Rosario got decent results, but his peripherals were scary. I guess there's always good old Rob Zastryzny, who if I remember correctly pitched his way onto the playoff roster in September in 2016....could be mistaken on that. Adding a LOOGY by the August 31 deadline should be doable though

I feel like poor Randy was overused when the starters were going 3, 4, and 5 innings for weeks at a time. Poor guy has been used on back-to-back-to-back days and in both games of a double header.

A catatonic performance by the Cubs through and through. Among their least spirited of the season. As fans, we spend all this angst about the starting pitching and they get a good start and find a way to fritter it away to a last place team anyway.

Just curious...when did you start watching baseball? I'm asking because you said you didn't realize Pedro pitched for the Phillies...but that's who he finished his career with and he actually pitched in the WS.

Sometime in the late 90s.


Given that he only pitched 9 regular season games(signing in July) and 3 post season appearances almost a decade ago, can't blame me for that. I'm sure if we had a "he played for them" thread on here, Pedro in a Phillies jersey would be one of the posts.

My bench in fantasy today went 7-for-9 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 6 R, 1 SB.

I benched one of them because they were facing one of my SP, and benched the other because I needed a higher batting average for the week and that gentleman generally does not give me that.
