Only 4 games back of the Astros now but have a very touch stretch they are looking at so the sweep of the Tiger's and Jay's could not have come at a better time. Would really have liked to have won at least one in Colorado.

They have 2 against the Dodgers at home, then three against the Angels on the road and then a 6 game home stand against the M's and Stros.

Awesome moment for my son today. He and I had seats directly next to the Phillies bullpen this afternoon. Phillies reliever Victor Arano threw my son a ball without him even asking for it. A few innings later Arano took the ball back and signed it and then handed it to all the other relievers to sign too! Everyone is on the ball except Pat Neshek who wasn't in the bullpen yet at the time. My son was so happy to get that ball.

3/4 from the Mets. I like it...I wish the Phils would lose though. :P

Also, I think Atlanta finally solved it's leadoff issue. Acuna is hitting with an OPS of 1.137 in 14 games so far. I love the speed with Acuna and Ozzie ahead of the middle of the lineup.

ESPN crew, as usual, bitching about something.

This time they're bitching about the Yankees and Red Sox constantly going into pitch counts and of course, cycling it back to game length.

Gee, I didn't know fundamentally sound baseball by two teams with tons of really good hitters is a bad thing.

I love that the same people who bitch and moan that baseball has no offense or needs more offense also bitch and moan when good offense is played or if higher scores happen. Can't have it both ways.

I mean, I'm not gonna watch a sporting event on mute lol. Kinda loses the impact without hearing the umpire, the crowd, the crack of the bat, etc.

I think the requirement/request should be, rather, for the announcers to stop saying dumb **** that also make fans dumb. How about explaining that full counts are a result of great offensive players and great approaches? It's not on me to make the broadcast better. We want everyone to "do better" nowadays, so hey, I want them to do better.

I'm sure ESPN is here taking your feedback. Keep on keepin' on I suppose.

This is astoundingly bad managing by Aaron Boone.

This smacks of that dumb *** game the Yankees had last year or the year before which resulted in a comeback win and a walkoff for Hanley in what was basically a must-win game for the Yankees. The game Betances blew.

I couldn't agree more. I like the PBP guy, but the overall chemistry and commentary of this broadcast team is dreadful.

Unbelievable. Welp, time to focus on fending off the A’s and Mariners.

The feeling is that managers don't really matter much (at most they account for 5 wins/losses so the general wisdom goes) but when it comes down to the stretch drive or an important part of the season that's when you know if you've got a good manager or not. Aaron Boone has mostly had it easy in NY but now, now the infamous NY media is going to start feasting on him. It's going to be interesting to see how the Yankees do.

I know the main reason Girardi was fired was due to communication issues but at least he ran a tight ship and as much as some of his tactics may frustrate the hell out of you he generally knew what buttons to push. The next couple months are going to be fascinating to watch.

Firing Girardi was a huge mistake. People wanted Girardi gone (I was guilty of it myself at times), and this is what we got. Careful what you wish for.
