Yet another Rays win. If only we'd won that game against the A's where we had men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, failed to score, then lost in extras. We'd be breathing right down their necks. Need them to fall apart pretty spectacularly, which isn't looking likely, but at least the kids are doing everything they need to be doing.

You kinda are already. Fans feel it anyway. Ever since we passed the M's it was all about catching and passing Astros. Once they got healthy and playing on all cylinders the M"s were in the distance and kept falling.

Rays have been closing in the whole time.

Today marks the Cubs' 30th consecutive game (or partial game) played without a day off. They were last off on August 20th. Tomorrow they get another day off finally.

Jason Kipnis' 1000th career hit is a walk-off Grand Slam.

And he's the first player to hit a walk-off GS with his team down 1-0 since Ron Santo almost 50 years ago to the day, September 25th, 1968.

                Not bad.

Kris Bryant having a rough series. He struck out twice last night, kicked a ball, and grounded into a rare double play. Tonight, Robbie Ray has made him look like a middle school hitter and he's kicked a couple more balls in the outfield. At least JD got to call his homer in game 1 of this series. Need a little more cowbell out of KB.

The Brewers salvaged the series vs the Reds, now, onto Pittsburgh, who have owned the Brewers this year.

This game looks easier when you don't have your own fans trying to take outs away from the team.

Huge sweep, and with a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way, puts us in the driver's seat.

taking 2 out of 3 from the Dbacks is v good I thought the loss would be vs Corbin and not vs Ray and the AAa lineup but still a good result. 18-11 through this stretch you will take every time and if not for some wonky rescheduling could've been better too but hey Cubs finally have an off day!

                                I want to like Dansby.

His defense has vastly improved, likely thanks to Ron Washington. 10 DRS is 6th best for SS in the majors.

I love watching him on the bases, he's very exciting to watch stealing, going 1st-3rd...he's very aggressive and it's enjoyable.

But his ABs are pathetic. He has zero approach at the plate. He has marginal power as it's all in his wrist since he can't stay back and allow his hips to provide power. Come postseason play, opposing pitchers are going to feast on him.

His defense in my mind isn't outweighing the struggles at the plate. He's not Adam Everett or this amazing defensive glove. He's a below-average bat with an above average glove. I really think for the postseason, Culberson is a better option.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.
