Kyle Farmer's home run today in Cincinnati had a hit trajectory and exit velocity that provided a batting average expectancy (for other hits of those values) of .080.

Yelich and Bellinger have been on a tear. But I doubt they come close to that.

I wouldn't choose those three as the barometer for how to compare league eras. Those guys were different animals entirely.

That being said, Yelich is technically "on pace" to break the record, but that's not quite how it works throughout the course of the season. Then again, it might only ramp up as the weather gets warmer. We have to find out if he'll actually start hitting better on the road or not as he continues to hit well at home.

I'm just saying in general nobody has come close. Pretty sure Stanton's 59 that one year was the most in a while.

I'm always amused when I see a broken bat popup like Ozuna's just now that comes off the bat at less than 75 mph show an expected batting average (same as Blzer referenced earlier) like .900.

        'Tweeners.

Also, shock and surprise, we've now got another close Cards/Cubs game at Wrigley.

Edit: Well, we did. 3 straight hard hits off Waino in the 6th chase him and get the Cub lead back to 3.

Heyward a bit late on that one, but still hits a rocket out of play and lets out a yell. This is a guy who is confident at the plate. Totally different guy up there.

Hope that was a confidence builder for KB. Finally getting the results after swinging the bat pretty good for a while.

Guess his arm's okay too - wasn't sure when he was shaking it out after diving for a ball earlier.

Despite the HR allowed, Chatwood has looked really good so far this season. I'm glad he's been able to bounce back so far after the horrid year last year.

And that 1-2 slider was received awfully by Willie. Cost Chatwood a backwards K and another run

Told you KB would be fine. This team is starting to show signs of the 2016 team and honestly when you include a MVP type player in Baez it might be better.

the bullpen is still thin but they are going to get Edwards and Montgomery back at some point. I'm not counting on Morrow at all though.

I wouldn't count on Edwards much either. Getting Monty back will be nice

Ehh, you can't play worrying about injuries all of the time. In a situation like that with the rules we have today, him getting seriously hurt was so low chance. If you worry about injuries too much you're going to be too conservative and make too many bad choices/mistakes in the process.

He was put in to score the game winning run. He put maximum effort into the play and I am very happy to see a play like that. Those are the types of plays that no matter who you are rooting for that game you can tip your cat to Fried and applaud the effort. If he had gotten hurt I wouldn't have sat here snarling at Snitker for being dumb and putting him in that spot. That would have been a "**** happens" type of injury and not one you put too much blame on anyone unlike if Snit got him hurt by letting him throw 135 pitches.

Cubbies have one of the best run diffs in the league...pitching staff has been all guts...

Bryant's OPS has climbed above .800...but I'm not sold on him being fine...a moonshot to center is a good sign, for sure...if Schwarber or Almora can turn the corner, the lineup will be almost back to it's 2015/2016 length...

Bote...this dude shows up in every highlight and seems to get clutch hits every other day.

I'm still of the opinion that they'd get the best of Bryant by moving him down. Why do they want solo HRs and Ks out of him?

Heyward would be a great guy to put in front of Baez, Rizzo, and Contreras.

Really excited about how these guys have turned things around, says a lot about the mentality...not sure where they're going to turn for reinforcements...

Maybe they're already on board...in the form of Morrow and Russell?

Let us not speak of the Jays road trip again. That was just some putrid baseball. Hopefully the homestand will be better but we start against the surprisingly AL Central leading Twins.
