This is all part of that slippery slope. But it's what everyone wanted with promoting this acting garbage and painting it in such a positive, skillful light. Following the current 2019 pattern of terrible "fixes" to already inaccurately-attributed roots of problems anyhow.
Seriously. How dare those mean catchers fool the umpire like that.

While we're at it, the pitchers are just as mean. Why should they be allowed to throw pitches that move and can fool the umpire too?

Can we all start a petition to get Matrix in charge of baseball? He's the only one that can save us from our own ignorance!

I'd say pitch framing is more akin to football receivers who drag a tippy toe on the sideline to make a catch. But maybe thats as bad as basketball flopping. I mean, if you can't catch a pass with minimal effort, well inbounds, then you are really just paddling your QBs stats, making him look more accurate than he is. Disparaging baseball catchers for doing their job really well, and arguably the hardest job in ALL of sports is like complaining about sanitary workers who might make just a little bit too much noise when hauling off your refuse.

Nice way for the Cubs to come out of the All-Star break.

If you’re going to shift, you have to pitch to the shift...a fastball on the outside corner to a LHB when everyone is shifted? Come on, man...

Sobotka got a strikeout, but that last pitch was a hanger...he’s lucky Renfro didn’t hit it to Orange County.

That was (objectively) one of the better games the Braves were a part of this year. Soroka and Quantrill were excellent. Huge sweep to start the second half of the year, and the fact that it came on the west coast isn't lost on me.

Yeah well I hate floppers and stopped watching basketball because of it. The catchers are flopping when they do it. They're acting that something is something else to manipulate the umpire's call. That's flopping. Period. I'm allowed to view it this way and I'm sorry you disagree.

Glad it didn't cost the team last night but it often does and increasingly muddled, convoluted officiating is not something anyone should gloss over or be dismissive about because it's made other sports unwatchable.

Yea, I don't get why someone would mock another person who was just stating they don't like when athletes do things to fool the officials into making an incorrect call that benefits their team. Don't we all want the officiating to be as perfect as possible?

Where did I disagree? I support you 100%. I just feel so badly for you that you have to watch Flowers take advantage of the umpires every night. What a corrupt individual and team for allowing that kind of chicanery.

Maybe you should become a Cubs fan. Contreras is one of the most honest catchers in the game according to pitch framing metrics.

And I can't wait to see your argument to ban any pitch but the 4 seam fastball. We cannot allow pitchers to throw something that looks like a fastball, but certainly is not with the intent to fool the umpire and/or the opposition.

As good as his bat has been lately, his glove has remained pretty impressive. He's no Arenado (well, who is), but he is quite solid over there. Hate to say, but he may need to be trade bait for a pitcher. And can't' blame Kapler for the bullpen. It's a crap shoot. Even the guys who are still out weren't great before they went to the IL. Gotta hit your marks.

I will say I do understand Harper's beard now. He's a lumberjack....taking large timberrrr swings at everything.

Besides, this is supposed to be the game discussion thread. Everything else should probably go to other threads or PM's, no?
