Ok we have had enough dramatics in extras today. No reason for more.

My blood pressure needs AA to trade for a closer.

            Post all-star break tracker.

            Atlanta Braves 2-0
            Washington Nationals 2-0
            New York Mets 1-1
            Miami Marlins 1-1
            Philadelphia Phillies 0-2

It'll be interesting to see if the Marlins can keep playing the solid ball they had been playing the 40+ games prior to the break. It'll also be interesting to see if the Phillies continue spiraling down. I'd say that if they do then Kapler's seat will have to be scorching hot.

it would sure be nice if two of those zeros were still there next week. I think the Philly front office already knows Gabe is a dead man walking but they are stuck with him till next summer. I know mgrs. have been fired in less than 2 years but I dont get the feeling they're ready to admit they have to go in another direction. Just like in other sports, the flopping ("framing") is killing the umpire's ability to tell what's what, resulting in increasingly controversial, terrible umpiring. Muddled, confused interpretations just like the base-blocking rule, the tag rule, the charge/block, the holding/PI rules, etc.

This is all part of that slippery slope. But it's what everyone wanted with promoting this acting garbage and painting it in such a positive, skillful light. And of course, instead of fixing the actual problem, you have the mindless idiot fans and media calling for electronic zones. Following the current 2019 pattern of terrible "fixes" to already inaccurately-attributed roots of problems anyhow.

Catchers framing pitches has been a part of baseball as long as they’ve been calling balls and strikes. The difference now is that we can see it more clearly on our HD TV’s...

Perhaps. But it was never observed, promoted and praised like this.

Combined perfect game in progress for the Rays vs Baltimore through 7. It's combined because Stanek threw the first two innings as an opener, and Yarbrough has been in the game since.

Now through 8. No one up in the pen, it's Yarbrough's game.

Allowing the pitcher to single in runs and Bell not making a play at 1B means Pirates are getting blown out 7-3.
