    Re: 7/11 - 7/21 Game Discussion Thread

When I saw what happened last night (amid so much ugly Trump stuff on my twitter timeline) it literally made me smile from ear to ear and i'm not even an Angels fan. It's moments like that that make me think there's a God in heaven. What a night in Anaheim. It'll be one remembered for a LONG time.

A few more cool notes from last night.

It was the franchise's 11th no-hitter, (Skaggs wore #11 in high school)

Trout's home run was 454 feet (Skaggs obviously wore #45)

They scored 7 runs in the first, and 13 overall (Skaggs' birthday is 7-13)

That's why baseball is the best, and it will never, ever be close.
And John McDonald in his first at bat after his dad passed away ends up hitting a bottom of the 9th HR......on fathers day!

          And here's the real winner.

It was the first combined no-hitter in the state of California since...

            Lol, talk about eerie.
As people remember, last night we had Gray vs Gray and Anderson vs Anderson.

In Gray vs Gray game, BOTH finished 7.0 IP, had under 3ER, but no decision.

I watched SEA @ LAA last night after learning about the combined no hitter...here are my takeaways.

              1. Skaggs' mom threw one of the best ceremonial 1st pitches I've ever seen. You can tell she's a former athlete (on the broadcast they kept saying she had been a softball player).

              2. Mike Trout is a god. Let's just say that if you compare him to Mickey Mantle through the same stage in their careers, the Mick is struggling to keep up.

              3. I enjoyed the reaction from Felix Pena and Mike Trout as the last out was recorded. That feeling is as close as Trout will ever get to winning a World Series for this team, I'm afraid.

              4. It doesn't even really matter what the cause of death was or if we ever find out. It's apparent that Tyler Skaggs was well-liked by his teammates/fans and they put on a show for him.

                ...
I'm a huge Mantle fan and I want to call you out for heresy on this.

                but I can't.

you are absolutely correct on this. If Mantle had healthy wheels like Trout, he would be the greatest outfielder in New York history, surpassing Willie Mays. I'd even feel comfortable comparing Trout to Griffey Junior, Frank Robinson, Bad Henry Aaron, Joltin' Joe and Duke Snider. I'm usually a cynic when teams give ginormous contracts to guys like A-Rod or Bryce Harper, but I feel like the Angels got a bargain from Trout. I would like to see Trout get his batting average up a bit, but in todays baseball its less important than it was even 10 years ago, let alone 50 or 60 years ago.

Anyone who likes good defensive baseball should take a look at that final DP the Cubs turned to end today's game. That was ridiculous.

Max Kepler's last 6 plate appearances vs. Trevor Bauer: 1 BB, 5 HR. LOL

at some point, Bauer needs to decide its better that's 5 or 6 walks to 5 or 6 homers in 12 PA's lol

Man you weren't kidding. That was one of the best I've ever seen. Russell tried to blow it, but Rizzo saved it with a great pick.
