Why haven't they done ANYTHING during the off-season!? And I know they re-signed Garciaparra and Walker, but come on. Alou is gone, Clement is gone Sosa is still around. I don't guess he'll be traded now. Its rediculous. I guess the Cubs don't give a crap about Carlos Beltran and to be honest I don't want my team paying him $100+ million over 5-7 years...chances are we'll be in the same boat we're in with Sosa later down the road.

Actually the offer for Beltran is pure speculation. The Cubs have neither confirmed or disconfirmed that the offer was made. Either way, there isn't much talk about Beltran going to the Cubs or seriously considering it. The only thing I've heard is that he expressed interest in playing for the Cubs but that was about 2 or 3 months ago and I haven't heard anything sense. And with the kind of money the Mets (for some odd reason) are throwing at him he's likely to end up there. Also, the recent signing of Hollandsworth seems to give me the impression that the Cubs' everyday outfield will consist of Todd Hollandsworth in left, Corey Patterson in center and Sammy Sosa in right. That is a VERY scary outfield if you ask me and one of the worst outfields in the majors. I just know they will try and reconscile the Sosa issue and things will appear to go well for a while, he'll strike out 800,000 times in 15 games and then something will blow up. I hate Sosa and want him out of Chicago. He sucks so wonderfully bad that it is amazing that he's still considered a star.Comment

A game and a half lead in the wild card race with, by far, the easiest schedule and we drop 3 of 4 to the reds 2 of 3 to the mets and 2 of 3 to the Braves. Absolutely unbelievable. Oh well, I still love the Cubs.Comment
