Re: What in the H.E. Double Hockey Sticks are the Cubs doing!?
My God! I was hoping (for some odd reason) that the Cubs would pop out and nab Beltran. No such luck. This is rediculous. WHAT HAVE THE CUBS DONE THIS OFFSEASON!!!???
I can't believe that they think they can be successful with a backup player in left field, a leadoff man that strikes out 160+ times per year in center and the most overhyped baseball player in the history of the game in right field.
It was all adding up during the first month or two of the offseason...step one was not resigning Clement, therefore saving money...then they didn't resign Alou! Saving more money...then the talk about trading Sosa, I thought for sure they'd AT LEAST fill Alou's role in left with someone admirable but no. Hollandsworth!? Nothing against the guy, he's great, but great as a backup and nothing else. You know your teams not having a good offseason when you visit their website every stinking day and all you see is crap about some bums in the minor leages that won't be a force for another three years, which by then, I might add, will become free agents and want bigger contracts which the Cubs WILL NOT shell out! Geez! Why do I remain loyal to the Cubs, Bears and especially the Blackhawks!? Anyway, just wanted to vent but at least this next season won't be a "letdown" like last year when so much was expected. This year there's no way we should be in front of St. Louis and probably won't finish in front of Houston. The wild card will be out of the question because as we all know Atlanta will win their division and with San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Florida in the mix we can just take our usual place that we've had for the last 97 years in the middle or lower portion of the standings.Comment

Re: What in the H.E. Double Hockey Sticks are the Cubs doing!?
The owenership in this town is borderline criminal. Nobody cares about winning. If it wasn't for Michael Jordan this would be a wasteland when it comes to championships.
An embarrassment when you condisder the size of the sports market. They rake in HUGE profits every year and laugh at you, the fan. Because they know you will come. Last year I went to several Cub games and the thing I noticed is that the majority of fans are not really that interested in the game. They are more concerned with who's at the game. Who in another section they can call of thier cell phone, and how many pictures they can take on their phones and send to their friends and show them what a great time they're having.
My dad was with me and was shocked. He hadn't been to a game in years. But that's what the team counts on. There will be tons of idiots waiting in line next month for tickets no matter who the Cubs sign, or don't sign. Not really caring if they win 100 or 40 games.
The Cubs and Sox now both hold the dubious distintion as the two teams with the longest World Series drought in baseball.
Same with the Blackhawks, Wirtz was quoted as telling his GM one time, "Don't mention playoffs to the media, playoffs cost money."
The Bears are a joke and will be as long as the McCaskys rule them. They got everything they wanted from the city, and you the fan and they give you a 5-11 team and somehow want to convince you that they're better.
The Bulls...well they've won a few games now but it's now been 6 years since the 'rebuilding' after they shafted all of their players and the great Krause stated, "Players don't win Championships, Organizations do."
Such is the Chicago sports landscape. Embarrassing. But hey, at least we got the Illini.PSN: JISTIC_OS
