Cub fans are already spoiled with such a big payroll to begin with.

What the Cubs need is their SP staff to be healthy all year.

Any team that features Wood and Maddux (who would be number one guys on a lot of other teams) as their 3rd and 4th starter has a shot at winning the world series.

But don't get me wrong, I feel your pain when you know ownership has money to spend but don't want to do it.

I read the article but people have to understand the owners owe no duty to spend the money they sit on. If fans are so fed up with the way things are, then hit them where it hurts, which is their wallets. Boycott all Cub games and don't buy any merchandise.

A Pirate, Brewer, or D-Ray fan can only dream of having a 60 mil payroll.

But like I said in my post I understand the frustration of Cub fan. Their fanbase is hardcore and hopefully they win a title soon.

Theres not going to be a boycott any time soon. For every million Cub fans who boycott there are multiples more standing in line to buy tickets. Everything youre are saying is either obvious or oversimplistic and lame.

You help prove my point. The owners can do whatever they want because they know the fans will always be there. With that said they have very little incentive to spend more money. Just like the article states, the Cubs have the resources to make a serious bid to land Beltran but they won't do it.

Until the owners see the fans won't put up with it anymore, it's doubtful things will change.
