And Yandy Diaz is wearing a mask all game, except it's not even covering his nose at all.

Update on that.

He wore it halfway when batting, all the way when fielding, then ditched it completely later.

Masks are optional, but makes me wonder the purpose of sometimes wearing it and not wearing it during other parts of the game. That's be like wearing a mask when entering a grocery store, but by time you get to the bread section you take it off, and put it back on when cashing out.

Are guys gonna get superstitious with the masks too? "I got a hit when I wore the mask, I'll wear it again."

Must have been 10 months since the last regular season Jays game.

I got excited seeing Jays get a hit because it just squeaked by the 2B. All that did was get runners to 1st and 2nd.

Now I can be really excited, 3-0 Jays in the 4th!

Did the Twins break the single-season home run record last year? I can't remember, but I want to say they shattered it.

Looks like they're on pace to do the same again this year, haha.

Yes they did. By quite a bit.

Also, 3 innings down and the Red Sox lead the league in doubles after hitting 4 in the 3rd inning.

Interesting umpire notes:
1. Joe West in 2021 will break the all time record for games by an umpire

2. Umpires will get from city to city via a teams charter flight


That will be awkward as anything. Imagine being the ump that players have been giving it to during the series, and now winding up sharing a plane with them for a few hours.

A question about the 3 batter minimum rule, how does it apply between innings?

Let's say you face 1 batter to end an inning, I know between innings you can be taken out, but if you're pitching the next inning, do you now have to face at least 2 batters, or could you be taken out after the first one?


Also, funny "update" during the game. They showed a clip from the Cubs-Brewers game. A brewers player got a base hit, and Rizzo walks over to him, reaches in his back pocket, and offers the player some hand sanitizer.

It only applies to the inning you're brought in for.
