Because he shouted the "f-word" at the ump.

I guess "rhetorical" doesn't mean anything anymore.

I know why he's ejected in a literal sense. He should be, I get it. I just don't like that the umpire passively admits his mistake by making Pete Alonso pay for it the very next pitch. It should have just been called a ball, and I wouldn't be saying anything about this.

How do we know the ump called it a ball because it was low? Maybe in his estimation the first pitch missed in and the 2nd pitch is over middle of plate and he called it a strike.

I don't think you can state that the umpire passively admits his mistake when the pitches are in two different locations.

No self-respecting MLB umpire would call that inside, but I understand your point.

Regardless, we know that Jomboy will be dissecting this for clicks later tonight. Sadly he doesn't get to lip-read, but oh well.

I mean look, Strasburg being ejected literally has no impact. It was just the principle of the matter.

EDIT: Actually Jomboy already did it an hour ago.

Alec Bohm hits a double in his first Major League at-bat.

Can someone tell the Orioles they are supposed to suck and shouldn't be going for a damn sweep.

Both of the Phillies top prospects, Spencer Howard and Alec Bohm, both made their Major League debut wearing the retro powder blue uniforms.

I vote the Phillies don't wear anything else; if they must wear a home uniform, I'd okay with this:

Mookie Betts had his 4th career game of 4 hits and 3 home runs.

That's already the most in MLB history.

He's only the 3rd player in history with six 3-HR games, and he's 27.

The other two were Johnny Mize (37 when he got his 6th) and Sammy Sosa (33).

We're both a third of the way through the season and also 1/12th of the way through the season at the same time.

After watching the Jays hit seven homers the other night and LA-SD combine for eight last night, it sure sees like the ball is a little suspect. I don't think I've ever seen that many homers in one game at Dodger Stadium. All eight came before the end of the fifth inning.
