Wasn't it the Rangers who won a game like 30-5 or something and scored more than half their runs in 8th and 9th inning? Long time ago though, but just doesn't make any sense to me.

Like many have said, just play the damn game. Unless, Woodward was going to have his guys just take pitches the rest of the game.

Gibaut and Woodward suspended 3 games and 1 game respectively.

All for the sake of "unwritten rules".

      Congrats.

Yup, also the team last year who dropped a pop up so the pitcher could get a milestone K.

Jo Adell is currently the most entertaining player in the sport, for all the wrong reasons lol.

And I just saw the grand slam thing. The unwritten rule idea is ridiculous there. Baseball doesn't have a clock; a team can score seven runs in two innings and come back, it's very possible. Tatis has no need to "take a pitch" in that situation.

I know how guys, especially vets, often get the green light on 3-0 pitches if the pitch is in the perfect spot of the plate.

It baffles me how a guy would rather attempt to take a walk over swing at a real good pitch.
It really depends on the situation. This is different because they can't recognize pitches as well, but when I talk to my softball players about 3-0, I inform them that they'll get on base unless that pitcher gives them three more strikes, and the pitch after a first strike still leaves you in a hitter's count.

Honestly, the only time I green-light my players on a 3-0 count is if they have more to gain from that hitter being up versus the hitter behind them. This is especially true of any time there is a runner on third base. If solid contact or a deep fly can score that runner now and I don't have as much faith in my other batters, I'm giving them the green light. However, I always remind them that their strike zone needs to be the size of a softball, and just like 3-1 they shouldn't help the pitcher out. Furthermore, if they don't like a pitch on 3-0, then they shouldn't offer at that pitch on 3-1 either (to remind them of the hitter's count idea).

But in this juiced ball era, yeah these guys may want to swing 3-0 more often, heh.

Tatis Jr.'s Grand Slam home run last night was the 33rd of his career tying him with Chris Woodward on the all-time list. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

**** like that is why I hate so much that Machado is a historically dirty, insufferable bitch.

Ginobili-style. He doesn't *have* to be that detestable.

It's an outcome focus instead of a process focus. I tell my guys to sit dead red on 3-0 and attack if they like it. They did a great job getting into a hitter's count, why take the bat out of their hands on the pitch that's likely going to be the best they see? Coaches drive me crazy sometimes
This AND batters tend to become a little to agressive and less selective when they get the 3-0 green light. Tend to swing at bad pitches (usually with a bad result) more often than they normally would.

I do agree with you Maj, I think we should see more of it but like Jr. said, it's just been something that's engrained in our heads since little league that it's a sin to swing 3-0 that it creates a different mind set.

Also, bases loaded 3-0 is very different in a lot of situations (last night NOT included) because regardless of who's at the plate most teams would prefer to take there hoping for a run rather than hitting into a double play.

Good news: Pache is getting called up!

Bad news: Markakis may have been exposed to the 'ron.

Don't know how or why they're playing this game considering that.

                              Awww. Gnats announcers sad.

The Washington Nationals' rivalry with the Atlanta Braves has intensified so much Nationals broadcaster F.P. Santangelo had to mute the Braves' organist.
