Re: 9/14 - 9/27 Game Discussion Thread
Randomly turned on the Giants game on the radio. The announcer seems really intent on selling me on the dramatic importance of the Giants getting out of the 7th, for some reason. Then I realize it's a double-header. The game ends and they do a post game show, followed 10 minutes later by the start of the 2nd game. And there are playoff implications, even though the Giants are 29-29.
In some (albeit trivial) ways this baseball season has been one of the oddest aspects of this whole pandemic.Comment

Re: 9/14 - 9/27 Game Discussion Thread
I forgot that Mariners and Astros are still technically in the playoff hunt.
1,2,3,4,5,7,8 spots are filled, we don't know who the 6 seed is.
Astros magic number is 1. Heres hoping the Rangers can win 3 straight.
If Astros go 0-3 and Mariners go 4-0, Mariners win tiebreaker regardless if LAA is tied too. Angels win tiebreaker if its just them and Houston.Comment

Sent from my iPhone using Operation SportsI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Some interesting notes about the Marlins clinching (at Yankee Stadium)
They clinched their first postseason since 2003, the year they won the World Series at Yankee Stadium.
They clinced on the 6th anniversary of Derek Jeter's last hit at Yankee Stadium.
They clinched on the 4th anniversary of Jose Fernandez's death.Boston Red Sox

The Marlins have never lost a playoff series...and they've never won a division title...yet have two WS titles."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: 9/14 - 9/27 Game Discussion Thread
Vaguely remember a debate on Fangraphs a few years ago on whether you'd rather be the 1997-2003 Marlins (2 chips, no division titles or other playoff appearances) or the 1991-2005 Braves (14 straight division titles, 1 WS) and there was a pretty clear consensus you'd rather be the Braves. The playoff disappointments suck, but being a consistent contender is more entertaining for fans than rooting for a team that had two peaks, but lots of valleys.I write things on the Internet.
