I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I know it’s just 1 game but Merryweather looked really good.

      Potential closer?

Bellinger has to be absolutely pissed.

But it's why we legally touch all four bags on a home run instead of just going to the dugout. Why don't we throw for pitches for an intentional walk anymore, again?

I could have swore I read they got rid of the runner on second bull****. This is the worst rule change ever. I put up with it last year.

****ing Manfred. I hate that little bitch.

Game 1 and we already have an illegitimate result.

Listen, if we're gonna have fans in the stands and a full season and stuff, let's get rid of the garbage rules from last year, OK?

Not a great day for any NL Central starting pitcher so far. Both hurlers in the Cubs-Pirates only go 3 innings, Woodruff goes 4 for Milwaukee with 3 runs earned, and after 3 in Cincinnati the score's 7-3 Cards. Castellanos just took Flaherty deep.

Kershaw is batting .381 on Opening Day games.

                  EDIT: Now .364.

And they fall back on because it's still "covid protocol" This is really a deal breaker for me. Makes no sense. Has nothing to do with injuries. It's an absolute abomination.

At the same time, I hope that's the reason if that means we'll go back to normal again at some point.

It's like when I'm in traffic on the freeway and I find out we were slowed because people were looking at a car pulled over on the side of the road: I'm pissed that's why we had traffic, but I'm glad that's the reason because that means it clears up afterward.

And I bet they try to keep it. To appease all the media blowhards that get so bored and have the attention span of a squirrel.

It's also funny seeing them booing those "bad pitch calls" when they've been getting the calls in their favour for most of the game.

One thing limited capacity feels like is that it's the more hardcore/vocal fans who are in attendance. Or is this just a typical NY crowd?

Because I'd imagine a family with kids isn't as likely to go, or some casual fan wont just go to a game with their friend so they can sit with masks on for 3 hours when they're probably talking for 90% of the time that they're at the game from innings 3-8.

Anyway enough negativity. Good to have baseball back. One day things will right themselves.

                                How's this for modern baseball?
Merryweather had a 3 up 3 down inning in which he struck out the side...with a runner at 2nd.

He was 1 strike away from an immaculate inning right before that.
