    Re: 6/28 - 7/11 Game Discussion Thread

This season, teams that are winning by 4+ runs in the 9th inning are 493-2.

Any guesses as to who the two losses belong to?

I don't get it man. I just don't. I'm sticking with my Ace that has baffled Houston all night long. It's not rocket science.

Cole had 120 pitches to start the ninth. I get why Boone had his closer ready.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

So what. These managers baby pitchers. Cole is a horse. And this was a big series. He's about to get plenty of rest at the break. He dominated that lineup. That's his game. Nobody else's. And he let Boone know that.

The game was 1-0. I imagine Boone had the pen up in case someone got on.

If Boone doesn't have someone up and Cole blows the game, then the fanbase is bitching about Boone being too stupid to realize its a 1-0 game with a pitcher at 120 pitches, and he should've had someone up just in case.

No, he was gonna take him out to face one more batter. He wanted the lefty on lefty matchup with Chappy and Yordan.

But we are talking about a closer who had just blown a few games prior vs a guy that was baffling Houston all night.

You don't ever take your starter out. 120 pitches be damned. That was a huge game. And it was his game. I wish more pitchers bitched down their managers like that.

Boone needs to be fired right now. It's not just that. He's rested key players in games he shouldn't have. Gotta have your horses in your lineup when you're fighting for a wild card spot. You don't have that luxury.

Managers are stupid when it comes to bullpens. They overthink things. They get too comfortable with certain guys and they have guys in their circle of trust. And they live and die on that principal.

Let's walk it back to when Houston didn't even bring Cole in to pitch in that massive playoff game. He never saw the rubber.

This is simple stuff. Will Harris or Gerrit Cole?
The corpse of Chapman or Cole.

              It's not hard.

Should probably be well known at this point if you spend that much time in the ESPN booth with Selena Gomez and Arod and the rest of those hacks you lose brain cells.

Boone was probably pretty smart at one point and got dumbed down.

Oh I couldn't stand Girardi. Boone is a good guy at heart. Girardi is a douchebag at heart. He was a classic example of guy that would turn to the same reliever after getting shelled for a week straight.

Ask Yankee fans about his undying love for Anthony Swarzak lol and Chasen Shreve. Those guys were magical plug ins in his binder. Don't even get me started.

One would think that in regards to baseball, having the bullpen up in the 9th inning of a 1-0 game where your starter is still out there having thrown 120 pitches, was common sense.

No No he was gonna bring Chapman in. You are completely missing the point. Having the bullpen warm is one thing. Cole had to literally tell Boone to **** off to finish the game.
