As has already been stated, no way Boone would have finished the season, let alone get an extension, if George still ran things in the Bronx.

Re: 2021-2022 Hot Stove Thread
A clear sign of what the Yankees have become these days. 3rd best team inside their own division and one of the people responsible for it gets rewarded with an extension. Boston could be on their way to another WS, while we keep the same people who have turned the franchise into a usual WC contender at best, in charge.
Call it spoiled, it’s obviously still a much better product then what Pirates fans usually get, but it’s tough to watch when winning it all clearly isn’t a priority above the players and dugout. If the people at the top don’t care other then just staying competitive, why should fans?Comment

Re: 2021-2022 Hot Stove Thread
Nothing to say too much about Boone getting an extension. Not the right move. I don't feel like it's necessarily a game changer though. There's literally not a manager out there I don't question. Boone is very green though.
It's more about the culture and the team changing its identity then anything.

Im not surprised they’re bringing Boone back but I’m shocked he got a three year extension, makes me think they never even considered not bringing him back. He did have some leverage though since his contract is about to expire and could threaten to explore the marketLast edited by reyes the roof; 10-20-2021, 07:16 AM.Comment

I'm completely shocked Aaron Boone was brought back on a three-year deal. I can't believe they looked around and thought the best option for manager was the same manager.

Re: 2021-2022 Hot Stove Thread
Negotiations have been taking place since last spring, and each side thinks the other has not made proposals that will lead toward an agreement replacing the five-year contract that expires at 11:59 p.m. EST on Dec. 1.
MLB may attempt a signing freeze with the start of a lockout, or the marketplace might grind to a halt on its own, even more pronounced than the slowdowns of the 2017-18 and 2018-19 offseasons.
Agents say they have received no guidance from the players’ association. Some have braced for a two-week scramble to sign next March or later, whenever a lockout ends.

Cardinals to hire Oliver Marmol as their manager today.
Glad we stayed within the clubhouse to replace Shildt.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Padres have interviewed Rojas and Shildt for the manager job. Would love to see Rojas have success somewhere but the Padres are already close to hiring a pitching coach before the manager which tells me the manager won’t really be doing much of anythingComment

I saw the headline today and literally thought “Carlos Marmol got that job!?”. This makes more sense…lol.

Brewers GM Matt Arnold has withdrawn from consideration for President of baseball Ops with the Mets. At this rate we’ll have a new CBA before the Mets make any hiresComment
