I know MLBTR projections aren't any sort of official number, but so far Jays seemed to have agreed outside of arbitration with most of their guys for above what MLBTR projected.

Yankees and Soto avoid arbitration and agree on a $31 million salary for next year. That tops Ohtani last year for the largest one year deal for an arbitration eligible playerComment

Re: 2023-2024 Hot Stove Thread
I don’t think this rules out the long term deal, they just needed to come to an agreement by tonight to avoid arbitration. If I’m Soto I’d at least test free agency now that he’s so close to it. If nothing else, use the Mets to drive up the price he signs for with the YankeesComment

Re: 2023-2024 Hot Stove Thread
Sure he had a down year last year but so did the entire offense. You look at what he's done before the age of 25 and it's pretty remarkable. His best years are likely still to come.
You would think he would be a cornerstone of the franchise but the lack of a long term deal is very concerning especially when you look at how other franchises lock up their young players for deals that cover some of their initial free agent years.Comment

It's alarming they haven't come to a long term deal on Vlad. You think this would have happened at some point over the last two years.

Vlad might want to get paid like the .300 hitting 1.000 OPS player he was that one year.
While Jays might just want to offer him a deal like the .265 hitting .800OPS player the rest of his career has been.
I could see Jays more wanting to get a deal done than he does. There's more chance he improves and raises his value/makes an extension seem like a steal than regresses and lowers his value/makes an extension seem like an overpayment. That's good news for the team and not the player in terms of getting a deal done asap.Comment

It depends on how each side views it.
