From a lynchmob perspective. Its easy to see these things, it really is but not everyone feels the absolute necessity to come to a conclusion.

I agree with him on principle but i'm willing to look at things a bit more rationally. As I said late last night the hearings really exposed to institutional problems of MLB that has been there for the past 50 yrs. This hearing was probably the best thing to happen to MLB as it really slapped the Powers that Be back to reality. As one congressman said they negotiate contracts in a bubble that is a solar system away from reality. MLB can't continue to think it's some kind of special entity that can get away with just about anything.

If anything the hearing shows that there should be changes across the board. I'm not just talking Selig here. I'm talking Selig, Manfred, Alderson (maybe, for the most part I think he was honest but he did help contradict the company line) and Fehr. The whole infrastructure of MLB needs to be blown up or at least bring some fresh blood that hasn't been contaminated by the 50 yrs of institutional ruin.

Fehr and Selig devised a plan to heighten Baseball to a level it hadn't seen since before the 1994 stirke. Since Ripken couldn't bring back fan support by breaking Gehriq's legendary record.... Selig and Fehr agree behind doors to allow performance enhancing drugs to spread like wild fires within the MLB orginizations...and probably in some way encourage it...They knew that by marketing their biggest talents...Mac and Sosa they could gain some of the trust back from the fans that wouldn't support the game. Soon enough Mac and Sosa were in a 'Homerun Chase' for 2 years at one of baseball most heralded landmarks... Maris' HR record...With the help of Andro and probably the juice (based on the pleaded 5th by Mac yesterday) Mac broke the record and thus gaining fan support all over the country....Soon enough Fehr and Selig were happy because the revenues and fan attendance were increasing and thus thought theyd sweep the roid issue under the carpet...Unofrtunately BALCO blew up in Fehr and Selig faces and Congress was on their @$$3$...Like flys on sh!t

I guess he didn't leave the ballpark in the first inning (or before it) during the Cubs last game? I guess those cameras that caught him leaving at that time weren't right either? Sosa said he left in the 7th inning.

I guess he just mistakenly took a corked bat up to the plate even though players are very specific about their equipment and batting practice bats are normally taken back to the lockeroom when done (or taped so they are easily identifiable). I'm sure he had no knowledge that he was doing it.

Quite honestly, I'm happy there is government intervention. Steriod is a drug, and the way the MLB is taking it lightly, I do feel there needs to be a third party making sure that this is being addressed as seriously as possible.

Conversely, there should be similar intervention with the NBA or any other major sports organization. The NBA is VERY lenient on drug use, primarily marijuana, and that shouldn't be the case. If the government is going to intervene in MLB, it should be doing so in OTHER large professional sports organizations.

Congress talks about how the MLB players are role models...what about the 3-4 NBA players getting arrested for marijuana posession yearly and then getting off 'scott free' with some measly community service and a 1,000$ fine...Great example to our next generation!!! Thank You David Stern!!!
