      If you don't put McGwire in, then you can't put Bonds in either IMO. Bonds numbers have obviously increased over the last 5-6 years, before that, was he a HOF canidate when he was in Pittsburgh? No. So it's simple to me, if McGwire gets bumped for pleading the 5th, then Bonds has no prayer of making it.

              Mac won a gold glove by the way...I think he goes into the HOF based on his tainted HR record and that he helped the game get back on its feet...Even if he had to use roids

              DAWSON SHOULD BE IN THE HALL OF FAME....Thats another topic within itself...I think the media voting for Dawson are giving him a short stick....was he atleast the top 5 (given he played OF) player at his position in his era...Without a doubt

                  McGwire's testimony=hillarious. What a joke, and a cheater. You can see it in his eyes that he regrets his past, hm...I wonder why? Are you stilll "damn proud" to have your bat sit next to Maris' in the hall of fame. The first things that comes to mind with this whole thing is after the Sosa corked bat incodent I went to Busch and saw 10,000 Sosa cork bat shirts...HA, I can't wait to have a McGwire shirt printed up (which I will). McGwire's a joke.

                      McGwire Has 1 Gold Glove not that it makes him any more worthy of the HOF but I thought It would help you out

                      As for Bonds.....

                      Aaron in 23 Seasons hit 755 HRS
                      AVG = 33 HRS/YR
                      BA = .305
                      RBI's = 113
                      http://www.baseball-reference.com/a/aaronha01.shtml

                      Bonds HRS AVERAGE PER YEAR (19 Seasons)
                      86-89 = 21
                      90-94 = 35
                      95-99 = 37
                      00-04 = 51
                      00 and 02-04 = 45

                      Excluding his 73 HR season in 2001
                      90-04 = 39 HRS (still more than Aarons career average)
                      (including 73 HRS)
                      90-04 = 42 HRS a Year

                      Career Averages!!!
                      HRS = 42
                      BA = .300
                      RBI's = 110

                      Thats just as good as Aaron....HOF inductee to me (1st time)

                      Bonds has comparable stats to:

                          In all honesty, I know Cal is PR dream but Im not so sure hes more worthy of being a 1st ballot guy than McGwire --even with the steroids. The fact is that the streak hurt his team. In the end it may have been good for baseball but it came at a price, that being that it hurt his team. Assuming McGwire used (i know some dont think assume isnt definitive enough), steroids in that era never hurt your team. Tony Gwynn gets in on first ballot based on on the field. Cal gets in more for PR.

                              So 3,000 hits, 400 home runs, 19 All-Star Appearances, 2-time AL MVP, 2-time Gold Glover, and pretty much revolutionizing a position is just the same as a guy who just has only 500 career home runs when it comes to the HOF?
