The game couldn't have ended much better.

Unless it was a save situation

That was a strange, but good outing by Schilling. His line makes it look like a dominating start if you look at it strictly from a hits per innings pitched angle, but 3 of the 4 hits he allowed were homers, go figure. Whatever works though.

And its good to see Tek have a nice game, though I still think he should be hitting lower in the order (with Lowell hitting behind Manny).

Don't know why I was thinking about this today but I wondered how Andy Marte was faring this year, and it isn't too impressive. Doesn't really mean anything, I just found it interesting because we havn't really heard his name in awhile.

Eww, a .363 SLG% at Triple A is not something a supposed power hitter should be carrying. He obviously could still wind up being a special player but he isn't going to turn many heads with that stat line.

Man...hazel Mae has a rack on her.

Let's pray they get this game in...would be chaos if they couldn't.

Never had the chance to see it...

Not the best picture, but still shows some cleavage.

                    Wow, don't piss off Papelbon!!

Incredible game by Trot Nixon tonight, really carried us with 4 awesome at bats.

                      Hazel is quite the cutey.

Tonight's game was rather brisk now wasn't it? Wake pitched well and its a shame he didn't get the win but as long as the Sox win I don't care too much. Papelbon may get a blown save but its not like he blew a 3-run lead or anything (or even allowed an earned run). I kind of wanted to see Tito give Hansen the chance to work out of that himself since no one had hit him hard but I can't really second-guess him for bringing in Papelbon. And yes, big night by Nixon. It would be nice to get some consistency out of the 5th and 6th guys in the order behind Manny and Ortiz, especially if Manny and Ortiz aren't going to hit.

I hate the part in that commercial where Stern awkwardly rubs her shoulder and they both laugh like idiots. Its just so awkward looking. And you know he what he really wanted to be rubbing...

Looks like there is only going to be one game today and it should start around 5:15. Game 2 won't be played until September 11th according to WEEI.

EDIT: Tarp is back on the field. The Sox are shooting for a 6:15 start now. Boy am I glad I didn't have tickets to the game today. Some people have been there since 11:30.

Freakin' weather, this is beyond brutal...I haven't had a softball game 4 weeks running with Memorial weekend off.

Really looking forward to Lester tonight, if and when...

Decent first outing by Jon Lester. It's impossible to evaluate a guy off just one start, but my only criticism is that he seems to be a little bit of a "nibbler" which raises his pitch count and gets him behind in counts. I like his pitches though, and he showed he could get out of a jam by striking out Teixeira with the bases loaded.

I don't know if I would call him a nibbler as he did try to challenge hitters but kept overthrowing. When he was throwing it 93-95 he was wild, when he took a little off he was able to throw strikes. Probably a lot of jitters for him, but walks were a problem at Triple A. At only 22, he is most definitly still a work in progress.

Francona tried to get too much out of Tavarez tonight. If he felt he needed about 3 innings of middle relief from one guy he probably should have gone to someone like Pauley. Tavarez has struggled some this year and I think it would have been better to take him out after the 6th so he ended his night on a high note.

It would be nice to sweep the double-header tomorrow so that the Red Sox can take the series. Francona will probably give some guys the night off but I don't think thats necessary given the off day on Monday. We'll see how it turns out.
