that last one, fist pump, was BEAUTIFUL.

I think that's a good thing, actually. Shows that he actually really cares, and puts a lot of emotion into the game. He certainly had a very nice game...I love the 81 pitches through the first four innings...yet he still made it seven innings.

Only thing that worries me, as Remy and Orsillo pointed out, is he shook off a lot of 'Tek's calls. They're going to need to sort that out, as that isn't a good sign.

They also pointed out though that they havn't worked together very often, so will take some time to get on the same page. I have no problem with a pitcher shaking off Tek if they do their homework, which it sounds like Beckett does. Varitek prepares better than most catchers but he really only has a day to prepare for the opposing lineup while a starter has 4 days.

Anyone else feel like this game is setting up perfectly for a Keith Foulke blown save to send Red Sox fans into a full panic, 3 games into the season.

If Beckett/Schil end up like a Pedro/Schil in '04, or possibly better, then look out MLB.

                  Ding ding ding.

Sounds like the perfect ending to such a good game.

                      When did Texas hire Sveum?

I'm surprised Tito is going with Papelbon here. Must think Foulke needs more work in non pressure situations.

                              Pap Smear in to close.

Nice on Tito's part to recognize that he's the best option in this situation.
