Hansen... The only problem with him is he depends on his 97-98mph fastball too much. That is a complimentary pitch. He should stick to throwing his 94mph sinker and 89mph slider. Toss the heater in there from time to time... and just pitch.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
I disagree. His problem is location. When he goes outside of the strike zone they aren't quality pitches that guys will chase, and when he pitches in the zone everything is belt high and over the plater, not on the corners. Even his two-seamer would get a lot of the plate and seemed to get hit just as much as his four-seamer. His slider is pretty much all over the place and often was fairly flat. If I had the time and resources, I'd love to look at tape and see every slider he threw last year because I can't recall anyone swinging and missing at one outside of the zone.Comment

Looks like Theo has turned to the bullpen now that Matsuzaka mania has calmed down. They traded for Brendan Donnelly today:

and we signed JC Romero as well, who despite a bad year, has some pretty good stuff for a lefty...

No post in here for a few weeks?
Shocking.
Anyone else stronlgy dislike the Pineiro as closer situation we have going into ST?“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
I dont think you can really consider Pineiro the closer. They have a bunch of relievers, hopefully one of which will emerge. I still think Papelbon could play into it before the seasons done.Comment

What's the status on Drew? Seems like that guy dropped off the face of the planet while Theo and Boras work out the "language" of his dealBoston Red Sox 2004, 2007 World Series Champions

Hopefully Drew never signs.
The longer this drags on the more likely it seems that might happen. Much like the A-Rod debacle.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
I bet he signs with virtually the same figures plus an opt out clause for major injuries... he's been on Theo's lust list for too long to let him go.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
I really don't care about Drew anymore. It doesn't bother me if he signs or not because if he doesn't Willy Mo can get some at bats and if he does we have one of the best 3-4-5's in baseball if not the best.
So whos gonna make the "Boston Red Sox - 2007" thread?Comment
