Wake has pitched really well but has been given the Triple A lineup each time. It would be nice to see him pitch well and actually get the win this time.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
So far the offense isn't doing much tonight, but Wake could be blamed somewhat this time since he gave up a quick 3-spot in the first inning. Pena just went yard to make it 3-1. A double play by Lowell before Pena's at-bat hurt. As did Ortiz striking out with the bases loaded in the third.Comment

What is that hairy pink thing walking around in the stands at The Jake?
Nevermind, I found out. His/her name is Slider, and may be the worst mascot since Raymond.

Rough game. Hopefully we can see Tavarez turn a corner and start looking better.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Wakefield has to be getting frustrated with this. He pitches well, but Bard puts runners in scoring position. Then the offense goes to sleep. Including this game, 10 runs in his 5 starts.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Hopefully Bard is watching a lot of tape to see what he's doing wrong. It seems like if he does a better job of positioning himself to at least block the ball he'll eliminate some of those passed balls. 1-2 a game is acceptable, but this 4+ isn't.
Tavarez at least looked good. And now we're getting a look at Delcarmen.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
It seems like Wakefield has alot of trouble getting the Knuckleball in the right location. Reason for guys teeing off him they just let Knuckleball go by and tee off on his Curve and when he's behind in the count the crank his highschool speed fastball. Bard catching him hasn't been pretty, yes a knuckleball is a tough pitch to defend against, but all these past balls got to stop.Last edited by Briman123; 04-26-2006, 08:50 PM.18-1 hell of a season regardlessComment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
Beckett versus Byrd tonight. The matchup should favor the Red Sox, but they didn't hit Byrd very well last year. Beckett has to watch out for Jason Michaels who has hit him very well in the past (1.100+ OPS). Aaron Boone, in his only AB against Beckett, has a homerun as well. Manny is 0 for 6 in his career against Byrd so he's going to have to find a way to get it done.Comment

I've got Byrd on my fantasy team
Hansen was called up to Pawtucket too.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
In Byrd's last start he gave up 7 runs in 3 innings to the Royals. If the freakin' Royals can put up 7 in three innings on this guy, the Sox better put up about 12.
I have to work again tonight unfortunately, but am taping the game on the deuce and have been wearing my Beckett shirt all day. Let's take two of three from these guys.Comment
