Still not a bad night for the Mets:

Pedro looked great in his 2nd start after a long layoff, oh and the Mets extended Reyes contract trough 2011.

not a bad night? lose 4-1 & Pedro gets another ND.. I hope Willie wakes up soon & remembers that Heilman is not a setup man...

The Mets have the luxury of trying Heilman as a setup man for a bit.
He did do the job the 2 nights before.

At the end of the day, I would prefer Heilman in the 7th and Rob Hermandez in the 8th. But you got to give Heilman the chance to do the job, it would rip benefits for us in the playoffs if he gets his stuff together.

He's struggling b/c he's not pitching as much as he was before... Every pitcher knows it's harder to keep on your "A" game if you get used to throwing all the time then rarely get in a game.

          Hopefully, he'll adjust.
i dont recall him being "lights out" this season at all, he was good last year, my point is though that weather he pitches good tonight or last night, in whole, he cant be depended on, and i sure as heck would not want to see him come in in the 8th inning of a 1 run game in the ws, i dont want him at any inning in the playoffs.

I just want to add that this was the third straight day that Heilman was asked to pitch an inning. In the previous two chances he pitched 1-2-3 8th innings. I think he will be ok, but I really want to see what Ring can do.

another thing, is it just me or is floyd basically an automatic out anymore. im satisfied with him being gone after the season, i just think we could have traded him for a middle releiver or set up man before the deadline. i mean dude looks like its a struggle to run out a ground ball, his walk up music is the sanford and soms theme, which is cute and all but it suits him well and its sad. i swear, we are like 2-3 players from a ws title. 2 pitchers and a left fielder, it just sucks cause we are prob going to need a new 2nd baseman after the season cause valentin is cinderella right now but the honeymoon will be over soon enough. hopefully not till spring training.

Best move they have made in a decade imo. He's the cornerstone for this team for the next 10 years. Guy does it all. Outstandng move on the Mets part.

funny that no one really saw this coming so soon.. Minaya kept saying he wouldnt discuss a long term deal until after the season..
