Re: The 2006 Pittsburgh Pirate Thread
Can someone explain to me why Santos is on this team?“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis Black -

Seriously, I have no friggin clue. I read an article today where Tracy said "Vic pitched a great game against us last year........". I thought - Ahh, that explains Tracy's infatuation with him.Comment

Re: The 2006 Pittsburgh Pirate Thread
Nice of the umpire to get in between McLouth and second base on that play....jeez.
EDIT: and I see the Pirates still haven't learned where the inside corner of the plate is“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

I think he's 0-5 with 5K. He's due to lead off the bottom of the 4th“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

Originally posted by joebooBy the way, is Prince Fielder really 0-6 with 6 K's on the season? I know he was 0-4 with 4K's last night, but this game isn't on TV here.
Talk about falling flat on his face to start the season.Comment

He probably just needs to settle down a little. He's obviously very talented. I just wonder if he's ready.Comment

Vogelsong beans a guy and then gives up a HR to Gross.
5-2 MIL
The offense is once again terrible so might as well chalk up another loss: 0-2.
Honestly, I know it's early, but what are the chances the last time we see .500 is at 0-0?Comment

They've given up a lot of bleeders or balls that found soft spots, but that's the sort of thing that always happens to the Pirates.
And the Pirates are striking out way too much yet again.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

Well...I would hardly call Ryan Vogelsong a strength. Grabow was very disappointing though.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. Time to see if Fielder can get the Golden Sombrero twice in two games....
edit: Nope - he flew out to CF, and got a standing ovation“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment
